Mounting a real amiga compact flash card in winuae
« on: April 12, 2009, 02:17:32 AM »
I have a USB compact flash card reader and i want to read and write to the compact flash that I usually use in my A1200, from within winuae.  i used to know how to do this, but the FFS-formatted compact flash is not seen as by winuae ie I can't select it as a hard drive.

- Start winuae with the disableharddrivesafetycheck option ,for example "C:\Program Files\Cloanto\Amiga Forever\Emulation\WinUAE\winuae.exe" -disableharddrivesafetycheck

- Load your config and goto the harddrive section and choose addharddrive. Select the cf card. Don't forget to select the read/write option.

The addharddrive button is ghosted out.

could this mean I've formatted the CF with another filesytem other than FFS?

I assume you've put the filesystem in the RDB of the CF card, so it doesn't matter which filesystem you use.

There must be something else going on.

You have to run WINUAE as an administrator if you want to use the add hardrive function (found the answer in an old thread,  see here.)
Thanks Thomas :)

Thank you thomas.

The problem was vista needing me to run winuae as administrator.  As you said in the link, XP didn't need this, which is why it was OK on my XP Box but not OK on my Vista laptop.  Many thanks.
