PCMCIA TypeII (A1200/A600) Sound cards
« on: October 25, 2003, 12:33:01 PM »
While not Specifically Amiga Related, I'm looking to get a PCMCIA Sound card for the Laptop I'm thinking of buying in the next few days...

Any one have any experience of these devices? I've been looking at the 24bit Echo Indigo, but at £99 it's a little steep and only has a line out (I'd like a line in as well).

Oh and if anyone knows of one that would work in the A1200, that would be a huge bonus too :-D

Ok, rather than start a new Topic, I'll continue here...

I have found a PCMCIA sound card called the Echo Indigo IO, and it's pretty sweet peice of kit!

One cool thing about it is that Echo are happy to provide free opensource drivers (nice for the AROS project ;-) ), but also got me thinking about my A1200 and how that would be fun to have running the card...

Sadly I know nothing about the A1200 PCMCIA implementation, would be be possible to support such a card? I do recall the Aura sound card... Cheers

Well it seem to require a specification called the "Cardbus" spec... does the A1200 support that?

No, it's quite different to PCMCIA.

PCMCIA is to ISA like CardBus is to PCI.
