U.S. Postal Service to release an Andy Warhol stamp.
« on: August 10, 2002, 11:20:45 AM »
I witnessed on the news tonight that the U.S. Postal service plans to release a 37 cent stamp of Andy Warhol to commemorate him as an influential pop artist. As most of you Amigans are aware, he was the main attraction at the Amiga's debut appearance in New York, demonstrating his artwork created on the 'phenominal' A1000 back in '85. Using Debra Harry of the group 'Blondie' as his artwork model, the debut caught a lot of attention and put Amiga up front of the computer platforms.
This is an honorable tribute to us Amigans in a remote way, and so I think some may want to draw up some First Day Cover envelopes for commemoration. Release date is August 9th. Be on the look out.

Hoya!

@CD32Freak

Hehe, nice one! But it's, of course, unlikely to happen. They would
prefer releasing an effigy of Billy-the-Big-Door instead... :-\

Anyway, the Andy Warhol stamp is a good idea. After all, he was some
VERY good publicity for our beloved computer.

What a pity it's a U. S. only event. :-\
Could someone send me one? :-)

Andy Warhol was one of those people with absolutely no talent who managed to get famous. His art was rubbish, even if it was on an Amiga.

His mouse-drawn art may have been less than perfect, but his earlier work in other media was ground-breaking.  Much of what you see today is influenced by stuff Warhol did first, and better.
