Chip Tunes/SID Chip Music on BBC Radio 1
« on: February 14, 2008, 11:42:25 PM »
Yo!

Been listening to a lot of Radio 1 while I've been working in the garage these last few weeks.  I've been hearing a lot of sounds which are almost definitely SID chips!

One that springs to mind in the intro to a song by pendulum, and there are a couple more of that Indle/Electro stuff that Zain Lowe's been playing alot of.

Anyone else noticed this?

@beakster2

Timbaland is another who often uses the SID in his 'music', also Calvin Harris apparently has a SID set up...

Personally though, I listen to www.slayradio.com - the home of true SID music, and they often play Amiga remixes too - highly recommended.

(Well, I am sure you know this, but in case you didn't...) The SID is C64 not Amiga, but hey, it's all good when it's about Commodore!  :-)

Yep it's an abomination upon mankind. Plenty of records to state unknown artists getting ripped off by mainstream artists using their tunes (usually) without permission and royalties (Timberland is a good example). Not to mention most of them are bad anyway or edited badly. Lol just don't get me started with the shambles of music today! :lol:

My advice? Turn to Radio 2, don't worry! it's cool to listen to that station now. :-)

Wickid station!  That is some nice use of the SID chip, is there a tracker that I can use on the Commodore 64 to make some SID sounds?  Would sound wicked in some hardcore breaks tunes!
