Question about laptop batteries
« on: November 08, 2007, 02:46:32 PM »
I apologize in advance for this being kind of off as it has nothing do with with Amiga...

The battery in my Latitude D400 has finally gotten to the point where I don't get even 15 minutes out of it. There are a lot of web stores where I can order a new one, and even directly from Dell. This laptop was made in 2003 so I'm guessing any spare batteries that are avaiable for this machine have probably been sitting on a shelf somewhere for a few years perhaps. Does a lithium ion battery degrade overtime if its never been used? Would it be better to take the battery I currently have and have it rebuilt with new cells or should I just go ahead and order a new one from Dell and forget about it?

You can cut the battery open. And replace the cells. Most of the time, they use standard cells.
