Minimig PCB first run - pre-order thread
« on: August 22, 2007, 10:24:28 PM »
Since the interest thread was getting quite long I didn't want anyone to miss out so here's the updated post from the interest thread:

Dennis emailed me today and yes, he's been busy but we should see V1.1 next week so if that's the case, I may as well just start taking pre-orders for that instead of V1.0 as I can't place the order until next week anyway.

If you are seriously wanting a Minimig PM with:
Your name
Your email address
How many you want
Pre-assembled or bare PCB
and I'll add you to the list of pre-orders. Don't worry too much if you don't get a look in this time as I'm sure I'll do another run at some point.

As I said before there are two flavors of order, bare PCB or pre-assembled, but the pre-assembled boards are going to be limited to 10 per run. There is no limit to bare PCBs obviously.

The PCBs will come with all the printed documentation you need and if I have time, maybe a cool little box too :-D Ahh, it's the Spectrum ZX81 all over again

Bare PCBs are going to be £20 and the pre-assembled will be £60 which includes component prices.

Shipping will be about £4 in the UK and £6 worldwide. If it's any cheaper I'll quote that price when I get to weigh it.

Also, don't worry about pooling to get one for Dennis, the very first one has his name all over it :-)

Once I get the new files from Dennis I'll give you guys a week to get your orders in then it's off to China! :D

I should also note that pre-assembled PCBs are going to be limited to 2 per person.

Amazingly, already, there are only 3 pre-assembled PCBs left! Get 'em in folks!

Pre-assembled PCBs are now gone! :-o

Regular bare PCBs are in unlimited supply so no worries there untill the deadline which I'll announce here a week before.

Sorry guys! I wish I could do more pre-assembled PCBs it's just far too time consuming, I'm probably pushing it with 10!

Next time guys..

Perfectly understandable.
Besides you've already done quite a bit just setting all this up :-)

I just wish I'd gotten on here half an hour earlier :-P
Or at least had some soldering skills so I could attempt to put one together myself.

Xennep, is the PCB company in China doing the Pre-assembled boards or are you doing the soldering yourself ?

Whats the company in China's name ? URL ?

I was thinking, it might be better if someone here in Australia was to get some boards made for us Australian's (China is near here anyway).

I cant SMC solder anyway.  The other problem being though, is Sourcing the required Ram and FPGA here in Down-Under land.

I was hoping for a pre-assembled one :(

Xennep:

Like many of us I'd be interested in a pre-assembled board (I'm one of those capable of soldering 'like a blind gorilla with a blow-torch'). So, how many pre-assembled boards will it take to make such a production-run viable and interesting?

Xennep,

Not sure if I made the cutoff, but was wondering if the reason for 10 assembled boards is you having to solder them, whether a board+parts option could be available and I or someone else could get another group of boards assembled.
