Amiga.org is the continuation of a project which started in 1988 by the North Alabama Society of Amiga Users (NASAU) in Huntsville, AL.
Originally started as an online Bulletin Board System (BBS), we began planning the transition to the Web in mid 1994, including seeking and receiving approval from Commodore engineers at the time. Due to the difficulty in arranging domain names through Network Solutions at that time (when they first started charging for them), the Amiga.org domain name was awarded on April 26th, 1995.
Since that time, Amiga.org has seen an estimated 9 evolutions as we determined how to best serve the community. Now, Amiga.org has evolved into more of a community project than that of the user group. It is up to you to make this site into what it should be. Your recommendations matter.
The person that was pushing the buttons is Wayne Hunt, member of the former Amiga Advisory Council but there is a lot of help from member moderators.
We wish to thank Wayne for his many years of dedicated service. He made Amiga.org a great portal and news site for Amiga enthusiasts all over the world. We wish to continue that great community tradition and expand on it when possible.
