CyberstormPPC questions, again!
« on: June 15, 2004, 12:12:17 AM »
Fresh formatted HD with fresh OS3.9, WarpUp and Warp3D. Here's the deal. The PPC seems to work with AGA and Warp3D seems to work with 68K, but something is crashing PPC + rtg(W3d?).

Ideas? I have an older install on another HD and the hardware all works fine. I can't seem to find any difference in libs. What am I missing?

Hi there Red:)

I log back in for the first time in a long time and see you posting. About time you got a Cyberstorm.

Do you have all the ENV: Setting set correctly?

What video card do you have? I suspect you are using a PCI card with a Prometheus since you are the main dealer for them. :)

There is a little PRG called WOSPrefs that I use to set all the Env: variables. It should be in Aminet

Hope it helps,

Jerry

Yep, I am in Virginia now since the end of April. Looking for work in the DC area.

Congrats on the Cyberstorms! I remember how much you wanted one.

We are doing ok, just a bit stressed because the jobs just are not there...

LOL, well you get me a good paying job in south Florida and we may just head back down there.

 :bump:

I'm starting to wonder if the problem is in P96. I can play Payback 68K + W3d and I can play Payback PPC w/AGA, but I cannot play PaybackWOS with or without hardware rendering on rtg. Also I can run all Gears68k demos, but I cannot play any gearsPPC. It's gotta be something small I am overlooking.

Hi

WarpOS prefs is already in Prefs: (OS3.9)

Have you removed the ppc.library(Phase5) and installed the ppc.library EMUL?

ftp://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/ftp/aminet/pub/util/libs/ppclibemu.lha

WarpOS settings:

Termnator OFF
NoPatch

Use always address video= E0000000

Ciao

I had similar problems but the main culprit was perhaps I have a PicassoIV too, and tinkering with P96 attach settings and changing board 0 and 1 and even testing Voodoo4 mixed my settings. But finally they started to work again. Check your gfx address for Voodoo3. Mine is atm $5c000000.

from the Warp3D "Problems" readme:

Voodoo 3:

The Voodoo 3 driver is reported to work with the following revisions
of the graphics board drivers, and should work will all later versions:

Picasso 96:     Picasso96API.library    2.300
        rtg.library             40.3992
        3dfxVoodoo.chip         6.375

        Prometheus.card         6.51

CyberGraphics4: cgxsystem.library    42.5
        voodoo3 Monitor        4.3

To use the PPC driver in conjunction with WarpUp software, the following
environment variables should be set:
PowerPC/force 1
PowerPC/gfxaddr $xxxxxxxx

The installer will try to figure out the gfxaddr setting by itself. If it fails,
you have to do it yourself. The gfxaddr variable should be set to the Voodoo3's
graphics memory base address. The method to find this depends on the PCI bridge.
Consult your documentation on how to list the installed PCI boards.

Read the docs, sometimes could help ;-)

Hi Kraftwerk

nice those env prefs editor WOSPrefs . . .useful for WarpOS, StormMesa, GLUT and Warp3D too.

Better than the OS3.9 one.

Thanks for the suggestion :-)

Ciao

Red it sounds to be like you got a bad Warp3D install. Its happened to me in the past as well. Try taking the ppc.lib out of your system if you installed powerup. You need to have the one that comes with the Warpup package. Its an emulated ppc.lib this fixed all my problems.

Yeah, that WOSPrefs from Aminet does make it much easier. Try the one from Aminet and not the one from OS 3.9.

you sure you have the latest version of Warp3D?

I know I have the newest library, chip and card files for the Prometheus, silly
