Default Anyone else heard of Retro Gamer Magazine?

Because i think gaming today is a crock of {bleep}e - i tend to escape all that nonsense by buying old machines or equivalent. I recently brought a magazine called Retro Gamer (issue 3) that covers loads of retro game and even had a section on the Acorn and BBC Micro computer range of machines. Another section was about a company still producing games for the 8 bit range of somputers such as Spectrum, C64, BBC, Amstrad, etc. Another section included was a round up of all the old handhelds that fought (and failed) against the mighty Gameboy. Also included was a CD full of Gremlin games (roms) to be played on the emulators included.

I thoroughly recommend any retro enthusiast to get there mits on this wonderful mag.

Hompage:-
Retro Gamer

Happy Computing! :-D

Yeah, I was gonna post a news item on this, but never got round to it.
I saw Issue 2, and nearly bought it, but then I found that a friend has all the issues since the first one (which is now out of print). There's a cover CD with each issue I think, which has emulators such as UAE on.
I second CU_Amiga on this one, and definitely recommend the mag to enthusiasts.
(Although REAL enthusiasts will perhaps not learn anything new?)

It is still a good read though. And the games included.

I whole heartedly agree, this mag is smart.

I missed issue one cos no bloody newsagents had any in stock, but I've managed to get issue 2 and 3.

I'm seriously considering a subscription to this mag.

Have you seen the ludicrous prices the issues are going for on ebay: Stupid Prices!

Cheers,
Graham C

I have issue 1 :-D

Unfortuanately, it's a boring, useless magazine. It was a waste of money.

Filled mostly with huge pictures and not much text.

It isn't really worth it IMHO.

@iama,

Do you mean that issue or the magazine itself? What was on the CD?

The magazine (first issue).

The CD contained a crap load of emulators, a few old games, and some small shareware/PD games that weren't even 'retro'.

Most of the games were crap (and I LOVE retro games), and virtually all of it is available on the net.

There was nothing really special.
