I saw photos on T.V I hope pictures like this will spread around so that people will start thinking with their conscious instead of their greed. I also heard that the Americans administration is afraid of such pictures being spread around and anti-war resentiment might rise again. I'm fully aware that many innocent Iraqi civilians are being injured and killed by US bombs, and that's horrific. Honestly, thoughts like this plague me every day... I do not consider myself truly pro- or anti-war, but that does not make me indifferent.
I would advise anyone in here especially young and sensitive members if you go to these sites, are aware you are going to see dead people. http://alsaha2.fares.net/sahat?14@183.a4OgkyQvll9.6@.1dd56cad http://alsaha2.fares.net/sahat?128@183.a4OgkyQvll9.7@.1dd576bc http://alsaha2.fares.net/sahat?128@183.a4OgkyQvll9.7@.1dd57887 http://www.aljazeera.net/news/arabic/2003/3/3-22-26.htm |

Quite. But then we knew about those for 20 years and many of them date back to the iran / iraq conflict (and whos side were we on then?) Also, don't forget that in a year we killed enough innocent people to refill a few of those. That's more far more efficient elimination than Saddam ever managed.

Oh, those mass graves of Iranian soldiers killed by chemical agents sold or given to Saddam by the USA? I'd have thought the American press would want to hide those too. Not the ideal choice of "Look, we're not as bad as Saddam" propaganda.

@rinard:
The most disturbing pictures I've seen so far are of the babies murdered in the disgusting siege of Falluja.

Tigger, US companies sold Saddam a billion dollars worth of biological and chemical agents they knew were being used or would be used in warfare, so don't give me that. Even if they were naive, after Saddam gassed the Kurds they should have known better. But they still continued selling.
Biological agents were: * Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax. (Apparently this was fed-ex'd to Saddam) * Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin. * Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord, and heart. * Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs. * Clostridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness. * Clostridium tetani, a highly toxigenic substance. None of which have any agricultural use. Also, many of the chemical agents sold to Saddam (such as thiodyglycol) are obviously NOT "innocent farm chemicals", and can only really be used for one thing - chemical weapons. Yet this trade went on as long as Iraq was considered a counterbalance to Iran. America's shame and reponsibility for these deaths is not lessened by trying to deny it. The USA's mendacity filled those mass graves and its greed is filling more as you read this. |
