Default Should Canadians be allowed to vote?

Canadian BC voters not smart enough to pick their own candidates for the next federal election, so PM Martin has selected them for you.

Do you want Fries with that candidate?

Yes, this was on the news this morning and this evening. I don't know why Martin did this as I don't really see Ujal as such a strong candidate. He lacks spark, but he is a known quantity. Having the candidate in a riding appointed though may turn voters off him. This isn't the election yet though. All Martin is doing is replacing the current LIberal in the riding with a different one. When the election comes it is still up to the constituents to decide whether they want to be represented by that Liberal, or by a representative from another party or even an independant.

Presumably the PM is banking on Ujal to be a vote draw. It'll be interesting to see if he can bring in the numbers. He wasn't able to hold on to his Provincial seat even as the leader of his party and lost, to the provincial Liberal party (who you'd probably like coz they're a bunch of right wing religion and privatization freaks!).

That's nothing. Fade, I'm sure if you dig deeper you'll find that they're all a bunch of scum sucking criminals. I certainly have no love for our present government. Sad thing is, they're still a far cry better then the concervatives (which btw, Paul Martin is perhaps the most concervative Liberal I've ever seen) and the rather silly NDP. :-(

Oh, and btw Fade, Fluffy's right, this has nothing to do with who will govern next, it just determines who's gonna be on the ballot. Truth is, the "old sk00l" way of doing this was just as effective but more expensive (it required buying votes).
