This is how large parts of the US were populated.
Then again, that's also true of Australia.
For small populations in big lands with slow transportation small populations can only turn into big populations with a certain amount of inbreeding.

Just about any long established population is inbred to a certain extent. Jet travel is fairly recent. For agricultural societies it was unusual for most people to travel more thean 20 miles from where they were born.

As to why it shouldn't be allowed now? I don't know. Contemporary squemishness that also frowns on marrying girls when they're 12.

I dunno about the US, but here in the UK, as far as I know marrying one's cousin isn't prohibited although it's certianly not a common practice.

Simple answer: incestuous marriage would destroy our genetic diversity. Homosexual marriage only damages the stuffy old traditions of a dying few whose lasting epitaph will not be love and charity but the Crusades, the Inquisition, and 2000 years of war.

I really don't understand iamaboringperson's obvious hatred towards something that doesn't hurt or concern him in the slightest, and will never actually effect him in any way no matter what happens.

Maybe he really does have something to tell us?

Diversity isn't the whole story though. Remember, diversity also means "bad" alleles too. Inbreeding is pretty good at bringing the bad alleles together so that natural selection can kill off the unfortunate recipients.

On the other hand, if you want to make legislation based on genetic diversity, why are same race marriages allowed?

Who said the incesteous relationship have to have kids? If one or both are impotent then they can't get married?

The only people who are stuck in the stone age are the people like you who can't accept what homosexuality exists and you can't stamp it out no matter how brutal you get. It's the right that can't accept progress. The left have always been progressive - thats part of the definition of being "left". Where I'm sitting, it's the right doing all the hating - as usual. I don't think "God hates fags" is a liberal campaign, do you?
