Do you know GVP made TekMagic for A4000T?

I just made review of one: http://jack.untergrund.net/2016/12/07/tekmagic-4060t-aka-ultrasound-accelerator-en/

I hadn't heard of it and the article was really interesting.  Thanks for sharing details of this rare hardware.

Yes, I know. If you see my A4000T repair thread on Amibay, you can spot such card in action.

Yes you are responsible for me getting one and do testing ;oD I know your thread and I asked you, if you can share some more details.

Then me and my friend managed to get it from US and do own testing.

Do you have anything to add that I forgot in my review? Have you managed to map ROM into RAM for example? We plan to try overclocking for example.

Nice thread.

I came across the software and hardware architect of this ultrasound device: Boyd Edmonson.
You should try to contact him through his company http://www.nebulasoftware.com/

As a side note he was also the main guy for the MagicBox Alphagen.

Hopefully you can reach him and find out if he has something he is willing to share.

@Gulliver

This story kinda brings the classic Amiga's story full circle as Jay Miner came to Hi Toro following experience designing heart monitoring equipment for medical services! To think that the final culmination of his vision, the A4000T was re-engineered for use in sonography is a fitting tribute to the man.

Jay foresaw the dangers of computer technology and the 'Big Brother' monitoring that it was capable of delivering but his uses were always more positive and life affirming. Here's to Jay Miner, Boyd Edmonson and all the fantastic uses the Amiga was put to.

Really? From where?

Do you own research ;o) We found local spare parts stock, so it must be also in other countries. Price isnt that bad, still fine comparing the current prices of 060 secondhand accelerators.

The only criteria is to have A4000T. It may fit also into A3000T, but I cant test. I can provide you the libs if you get one ;o)

Have you tried MMULib package if it gives better FPU speed compared to 68060 library?

Huh? How is this related to the thread?

The MMULib does not provide the FPSP (the floating point support packet) required for ful 68060 FPU support. It's part of the 68060.library. The MMULib package does come with a 68060.library, though, which of course includes the FPSP.

Which library you pick is, as far as the emulation speed is concerned, mostly irrelevant. It's basically the same Motorola code all the way. The difference is that the MMULib package contains additional tools to improve the performance *if they are accessed* because the 68060.library provides direct access to the FPU emulation, bypassing the emulation exception processing.

The Os 3.9 mathieee libs go directly to the fpsp (instead of relying on the emulation exception), and MuRedox is an online patcher which also redirects the program flow directly to the fpsp instead of going through the emulation.

That improves performance. Not the presence of the library alone. It is a combination of several factors (Os 3.9 math libs, MuRedox).

Does anybody have idea why the on-board IDE performance is with TekMagic so high (4,7 MB/s) comparing to Cyberstorm PPC (2,5 MB/s)?

I happen to know that most of those systems were recycled or destroyed at the end of use as they could not be sold :(.  At the time I lived close to the Amiga dealer that sold Phillips/ATL some of those A4000T systems.

(Veeery late to the party but whattaheck... I was googling for DSP3210 Zorro cards.)

To quote from your review "Other Zorro slots are used to connect DSP board ". Now _that_ is potentially much more interesting than another 68060 board. IIRC correctly the DSP3210 tech that C= was intending to use walked out the door with one of the employes(not as in stolen, but as in using the know-how to build what C= did not) and was made into a Zorro card. That could be that card.

I would much rather have the DSP card than the 060 one. Do you know the whereabouts of it now?

As a late correction to this - I thought MuRedox is a part of the package. Didn't notice it's a separate tool.

And so it happened that one of the plug-in IO cards for the device was for sale on ebay - I just couldn't pass it up.
So now I'm sitting here waiting for delivery and hoping there wont be trouble with customs or if you need some kind of licence for operating(owning) it.
