X5000 pre-orders
« on: October 03, 2015, 03:17:34 AM »
And the first Amiga related website (as far as I know) to reference this:

https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1082048695138848&id=447768335233557&set=a.461608890516168.110788.447768335233557&source=48&refid=13

Would appear to be MorphZone oddly enough.
Not bad pricing either.

So, are we going to get an affordable machine after this one?

Affordable custom PPC in low production numbers?

No :) better do not make a bet on it

Seriously... it cannot be "affordable", only when using off-the-shelf mass produced hardware

The case will be the same as the X1000?

The X5000 is definitely a step in that direction.
And I believe we are going to receive a reduced cost board, but I can not confirm that and will not post rumors.

I look forward to trying the lower cost X5000, under MorphOS and possibly OS4.1.
I also hope we will have dual OS support for a further cost reduced board.
And whatever X64 board the MorphOS team eventually moves to should also be relatively low cost.

As I doubt that there will be a machine that costs less than 1000 Euro, I will happily wait for MorphOS x86. I am not in a hurry.

congrats again to A-Eon for the successful completion of the successor  to the  A1-X1000! More REAL NEW  hardware for our favourite OS is  aweosme news

I use my X1000 everyday and never once regretted selling my Samflex@800 to get it!  Now both AmigaOS and MorphOS have a solid standard future platform to build on

huh, you've got ACube with the A1-500/ Sam 460 if you're looking for 'more affordable'.  A-Eon has always said it won't be competing with ACube on that front

So pricing starts from £1699 = $4000 NZD. LOL Hopefully people will start ditching their X1000s for cheap, but knowing Amigaland prolly not.

Nevermind, another machine that will sell in small numbers. Only good thing is new hardware, but yet again behind the spec curve.

Go specific PC hardware instead, lock the BIOS for AmigaOS and suddenly superfast cheap hardware appears.

Given that this is custom hardware in low production volumes, I'd say that's damn cheap.

Development board.
Not bad for Power8 though.

BTW - I do believe a sub 1000 euro board is possible, but I would not be as nice as the X5000.

I'm not sure commodity hardware will be as appealing to me as this custom hardware.
Weird, but true.

Maybe the next product after the Sam460 is a collaboration between the two companies.

The case Amigakit had at Amiga 30 UK was a different type to the one use for the X1000 and it was branded too so not just any old case they had to hand.
