Amiga keyboard

I was looking for a keyboard and found a site where you can select Amiga keys not sure if it's old news but here we go :

Nice, but a bit on the pricey side!

$150 for a keyboard?   Little rich for my blood.

I bought a set of "Stick On" Amiga lables for the Cherry keyboard I use with my X1000 for < $10

like curtis said, pricey, but very nice. mbrantley had one at amiwest this past year. it's a great keyboard.

Not a bad price for a full Cherry keyboard.  I pay that much for the high end gaming ones I use (Corsair, generally) and they aren't customizable, keycaps wise..

In principle nice, but:  - Cherry blue switch types are out of stock (that's what I would prefer) - No 105 key international layout, only US layout - You still need an adaptor (such as Lyra3) to connect it to the Amiga.

Hi,

Two or three years ago, I bought a second-hand Unicomp keyboard.
It's the best keyboard to get back the feeling of an Amiga keyboard as it has a real buckling spring system. They're the only ones to have the patent for this system and they're much more affordable. Have a look there http://www.pckeyboard.com/. Bye.

For those that do not know: This is the same keyboard type the old IBM XT/AT came with. Very "stiff" keys, with a very clear "click", very sturdy, heavy. Actually, pretty good keyboards, though I personally perfer to use a keyboard requiring a smaller force to press the keys. The old Cherries with the "click" type of keys were ideal. "Cherry blue" are not quite as reliable as the old series, are somewhat harder and more in the direction of the old "IBM" style keyboards. Still pretty good.

without an amiga layout its just another pc keyboard you can put stickers on or replace some keys. nothing wrong with it, its just there s nothing amiga about it.

Full sets of Amiga keys for mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switches (Blue, Brown, Black, Red).

With the U.K., USA, Norwegian, Spanish, Greek, Russian, Italian, French, German, Swedish and Serbian layouts.

Copied, over months, from an Amiga keyboard with just a vernier... :D

P.S: I have got one full set (beige and white) with the American layout (ANSI - with the rectangular Enter key), I believe it's the only one I made if anyone is interested and also an all black set with the Danish layout and two (white and beige) with the Swedish/Finnish layout, first come, first served. ;)

I'd buy one if it could fit in an A500 or A1200 case. I'd then get a USB adapter ;-)

How much does it cost to get keys laser etched? Was thinking I could paint my keyboard but instead of vinyl stickers get them etched?

Saves buying an over priced CDTV/CD32 keyboard and destroying it too.

Ducky, Unicomp, DAS Keyboard, Filco... they're all very expensive to me.
Is it impossible to find a keyboard as good as those but at a lower price? Preferably a tenkeyless.

It is amazing the difference a few years make.  I remember seeing many of the old IBM 'clicky' keyboards for just a few bucks when they were out of fashion and old-school.  Now the prices are high and they are rare, same with all the hardware of the early PCs (try finding a Hercules graphics card, sometime ;) ).  Fortunately, they DO work great with a Lyra adapter.

Our Amigas, once plentiful and cheap, are headed the same way.
