Anyone got a DKB 2632 memory board? Help wanted
« on: November 28, 2014, 07:45:57 PM »
Hi,

If anyone here has a DKB 2632 memory board, I'd like your help.

The DKB 2632 connects to the Commodore A2630 68030 accelerator card for the A2000. It can be fitted with up to 112MB of RAM.

I'm wanting to know which address ranges the memory is mapped to. If you have a 2632, run a system monitor program like Scout which can show the memory ranges and post the info here, along with which type/size SIMMs you have in which socket. The Commodore ShowConfig tool should work too.

I had one and as I recall the memory is not auto-config. Perhaps the "addmem" or whatever is used in the start-up will tell you what address the memory is added to.

No, the memory under KS3.1 is autoconfig; I just used 4 standard 32 MB SIMMs (wasting the extra 16 MB) because it was cheap and simple.  I then couldn't find anything that needed 112 MB, so I sold the card to some mother-less child in Germany at a very good price.

Then why do you need to run 2632 to add the memory at system startup? The directions clearly state the memory is 32 bit but NOT auto-config using ANY version of Kickstart. I researched this quite extensively along side my DKB3128 which IS auto-config. This is one of the exact reasons that I sold my A2630/2632 combination years ago. Again, just respectfully trying to help. I am a little rusty though...

Definitely not autoconfig. Confirmed under OS3.1. Maybe if it's fully populated it can autoconfig? Certainly not with just a few 8mb SIMMs.

Sorry, by my recollection it was.

Yes, there is an option to the 2632 program to show the memory bank addresses and sizes. (I don't have a 2632 myself. I'm after this information partly out of curiosity and partly because the WinUAE Amiga emulator recently added A2630 emulation...)

1) Assuming the Board is configured for 112MB of RAM (e.g. the RAM is fully populated and the jumpers are set correctly) the RAM will be mapped in the range of $1000000-$7FFFFFF).

2) The RAM is not Auto-Config! It's normally added via the 2632 command but could also be added via addmem. The main difference is the 2632 command will automatically find and size the RAM but for addmem you must specific the address range and size to be added. The 2632 command also has a resident module option but it only works under OS2.x.
