iUAE Version 1.0 Released on Cydia
« on: May 15, 2014, 08:13:11 PM »
I'm happy to announce the first release of iUAE. An Amiga Emulator for Iphone and Ipad or any other IDevice.

Its basically an Upgrade to iAmiga with some Control enhancements and IOS7 related bugfixes. I decided to use the Name iUAE to avoid confusion with the not actively developed iAmiga. I also like it because it refers to the Original Developer of this great Emulator.

If you want to Compile from Source (Needs a developer Account at Apple) or Contribute go to https://github.com/emufreak/iAmiga

It supports:

-OCS Chipsets
-Games that require up to 1MB of Chip Memory

Many thanks goes to:
-All people who participated in developing UAE
-All people who participated in developing UAE4All
-Manomio and Fungos for iAmiga
-The Dospad-Team (I borrowed some Code and Ideas from them)
-The iRDP-Team (I borrowed some Code and Ideas from them)

Why is this not in the App Store?
Posts on this account before August 4th, 2012 don\'t belong to me.

Apple are pretty obnoxious when it comes to emulators, so App Store may not be an option. But something they let things through. Emufreak, please give it a try if you haven't already! :)

Isn't there also another way to install programs directly without a jailbreak? I think some console emulators were using that exploit - relied on some sort of expired certificate. That could be another handy way to distribute this.

I think iAmiga was in the App Store for a short period, but was removed later. There is also the DoTC App, thats basically a cut down Version of iAmiga that only runs this game.

I think it might be possible to get It approved with a publisher approved Selection of games. This would mean much talk and negotiation. At least this worked for a C64 Emulator. I don't think I'll do this at the moment. If someone wants to try. Just go ahead I'll support it :-)

Is there any likelihood you could get this in with the Emu4iOS crowd so we can install on non-Jailbroken phones, please???  I have a company iPhone and would love some emulation love!

You'll be waiting for Hell to freeze over waiting for Apple to start being more kind to emulators.

I'm not talking about APpStore you plonker.. GBA4iOS for example is NOT an Apple approved app but you can load it on iOS devices WITHOUT a jailbreak!

Plonker?  Angry little fellow, aren't we.  You let me know when the Appstore starts allowing emulators, and we'll be getting somewhere as a whole.  Jailbreak required or not, the vast majority of i device users simply use the Appstore for apps.

You want to side load apps and use old OS versions or date tricks, knock yourself out.  Any program that isn't offered by "official" appstores is losing out on a vast part of the market, like it or not.  Most people don't want to deal with anything other than offical appstores, and the App Store is notorious for being hard assed about allowing emulators.  That won't change anytime soon, unfortunately.

GBA4iOS was removed from the App Store last year and to install it you need to trust untrusted sources, among other things some people wouldn't be comfortable with, the same way people ren't comfortable with having to root or jailbreak devices to get any particular app.  Blame the various appstores on that, I suppose.  If that's good by you, Godspeed, and have fun with it and any other sideloaded app.  Many people aren't comfortable with such things.  I don't have time to fiddle around sideloading apps, turning system dates back to get stuff to run, etc.  That being said, GBA4iOS is a terrific bit of code and well worth trying.  Give it a whirl if you're into GBA stuff.  But I digress, bit off topic here.

Haven't tried iUAE yet but looking forward to it once I get the time, thanks for your hard work Emufreak!
