A2000 Case Bent
« on: March 11, 2014, 11:42:42 AM »
Just noticed the other day that my A2000 case is bent, like this guy's. I have no idea how long its been like that. I just got the computer a year ago, and I think it was like that before I got it. But would I be doing more harm then good by taking the board out and trying to straighten it? It may have been bent like that for many years, so wouldn't suddenly straightening it put more stress on the board than leaving it?

Most all of the A2000's I've run across have some kind of bowing going on. That looks severe, but might straighten out a little with a monitor sitting up top. If everything works, I'd probably just leave it if I were you.

The only problem I've experienced with bowing is when I couldn't get an expansion card to fit properly.  Your pic wouldn't open for me, but unless something is contacting the motherboard I wouldn't worry about it either.

If you take the motherboard out you will probably find its not bent. If I were you I'd get an a2k case. i have a spare in good shape if you are interested. The reason for changing cases is because all that torque is not good for the motheroboard or zorro boards installed. Its very difficult to reshape these cases once they are bent.

I think I might also have a carcass if you get stuck.
