Default Powering BlizPPC thru Floppy P/S

I think my Bliz needs more power, so I want to power it through the floppy power supply. Do I have to do this from the Motherboard or can I use one of the tower's floppy connectors?

In any case being a bit of a techno gimp, which wires do I need to connect to the bliz power connector on the back. It's the red and black ones right?

Are you talking about powering the fan or what?

Whatever you do, dont pump current INTO the blizzard via the fan connector from any unregulated source - CSPPC users that did that regretted it.

To ensure you have enough juicem ,ake sure your 1200 motherboad is adquately supplied. As I dont have a PCI bus expander, I opted to use the original connector and the floppy header to feed power into the 1200 motherboard and my system runs fine, and thats with the BVision + 256Mb.

uh oh this is starting to confuse me!

My original aim was to give a bit of extra power to the Blizz itself.

The fan for my blizz had been modded and is now powered by the tower's power 235W source. The mother board is powered through my Mediator (will that give enough power?).

I saw a little two pronged connector on the back of the blizz and assumed that this was where extra power could be supplied via the floppy power cable.

Now I assume that this is actually the original power cable for the fan, right.

Thats where the fan was powered from originally. Dont push power in through there. You can kill your blizz in a second if there is any fluctuation in voltage from your PSU.

Since youre using the mediator to power everything, it should have sufficient power already.

Someone tried exactly what you were thinking on the CSPPC and killed it.

gonzo: yes thats the connector where to feed your bppc with power, but u need to be carefull! and a resistor would be nice to have on the cable also (maybe wrong name but its to keep the power signal at same rate)

i have 3-4 people around me who has this patch! , works fine! , but remeber 1 wrong wire...BOOM! ...your ppc is fried..

(12volt is a very bad thing , +5v is what you should power your bppc with)

cheers

ps: check the ESCOM A1200 thread , all info in that one about powering ppc directly.

pps:eyetech used to make and sell special cables for this.

I'm thinking that it isn't worth the risk at the moment to attempt powering it.
