Anal (Short for Anally retentive) : a term generally describing a person overly uptight or distressed over ordinarily minor problems.

Not sure who you were referring to in regard to name calling or personal attacks I was referring to the general Amibay entity. An "opinion" is a subjective position based on an emotive interpretation of fact. You can't really back an opinion with objective fact as it's based on a personal subjective interpretation, but in my case just go have a read the amibay rules. (Overly uptight I feel)

I joined Amibay and it is a completely normal forum. Certainly less insane t than Amiga.org.

If u want to go there and buy cheap items from nice ppl and then resell them at a huge profit on ebay then u will get BANNED like Magnetic did.

Do not go there to rape kind ppl. That is not what Amibay is for. It is for real ppl to buy real items for to be used, not to have the price jacked up and resold elsewhere.

In my experience so far, Amibay is 3x as good as Amiga.org and 20x better than ebay.

I think u will like Amibay. But if you don't want to follow the rules and respect the society then don't bother joining.

The rules are a huge ham-fisted PITA. I was extremely leery of that site after reading Magnetic's and other stories like his. However I eventually joined when I couldn't find the parts I needed for my A500 build anywhere else, went through their mind-boggingly complex registration process where it seemed like I had to agree to a new set of terms every time I visited the site... but was rewarded by meeting a fantastic seller who actually had everything I was looking for and was willing to cut a deal that we both were happy with. Give it a shot, IMHO, and good luck!

another thumbs up for amibay!

Their rules may seem unusual at first, but I find they are very well thought of, making it a great place to trade, very civilized.

Also I find that amibay is full of other interesting content whose quality is hard to match nowadays in other amiga sites - Their Amioracle section is full of eager, knowledgeable people and I've learnt a lot just browsing it. Their Photos section is also very keenly updated (unlike unfortunately a.org's) - I've been meaning to contribute to but never get the time!

If you do join amibay you need to be prepared for admins mood, if you ever give a response to their womit, be prepared to be banned.

Besides, I don't think that amibay actually follow the law, where you know, a buyer has the right to change his or hers mind.

"The law?" Really..
The worst they can do is ban someone. Even if you think they banned someone for totally wrong reasons, it's not really a legal issue...

As has been said, some people like them, some don't.
I like Amibay..
Haven't been there in a bit, but that's more to protect my pocketbook.. ;-)

to all; Thanks for the info...
I finally made it to amibay,
But, I will stay aware of the rules and different systems that exist in the great amiga.

I am only an once in a while buyer, I've only sold amiga stuff to fellow SACC folks face to face. I like that better. The SACC folks have been part on my amiga world for years.

thanks,
M

If you like internet freedom, or if you like ideas of freedom in general stay the hell away from the power obsessed, boys club of mods on Amibay. Be prepared for them to internet stalk you, invade your privacy, and attempt to dictate what you do, who you do it with and when and where.

Like good ole times in Berlin.

And no,i'm not being funny this is how they are. VERY ANTI AMIGA. It has the FRONT of being real amiga but its mainly a bunch of HOARDERS trading hw with eachother.

I've been a member of a simular forum for a specific Car(Auto) brand. It was run by a car club and was very autocratic. But sign-up was nowhere near as laborious.
But I can understand why you want to be sure of a person's identification on the internet. Especially when money is changing hands and there are so may shonks out there in the Amiga computer arena.(area). But IMO once you are in and verified there's no need for it to translate to general operations. Certainly not Berlin of old though. Because I'm pretty sure death is an option not exercised by Amibay.

As another person who has been banned here before (along with Magnetic and Franko) I tend to agree with Mag on this.
It takes more to offend an A.org moderator (although it can be pretty easily done).
And Amibay may use an Amiga oriented tag, but they trade anything computer related.
I'd rather just use Ebay.
At least there I get buyer protection.

Gertsy

Nobody is talking about anyone using another name or "identification" what are you talking about? I'm talking about the nazi like tactics and privacy invasion that is POLICY and DAILY ROUTINE for the people that run this silly site.

They most not have any authority in their real life because they sure turn into Khadaffis and Stalins on that site!

Note: I've been an amigan since 1988, I believe in the community and support almost all amiga websites NOT THIS ONE AMIBAY IS NOT THE SPIRIT OF AMIGA. ITS THE SPIRIT OF THE AMIGA HOARDER
