Got to see the pink dragon easter egg :-)
« on: March 29, 2013, 11:55:39 AM »
Freaked out at first, thinking virus?? But then remembered it's an easter egg that happens on 30/03 :-)

Downside as to why I was accessing the early boot menu is trying to fix my HDD which has decided to have read errors.

PFS3... bah just as bad as FFS :-(

PFSdoctor even states no faults found LOL. Anyway guess I'll have to pull my Amiga apart again and try and salvage the drive :-(

Haha yeah. Nice easter egg that, although I prefer the Ram Disk one with the Easter egg icon :)

I am to lazy to set my clock forward and hour and reboot, I will just wait for tomorrow. For the moment, I can just live voraciously through your screen shot :P

Nice find, to bad about the situation which allowed you to find it.

@mfilos - Haven't seen that one yet, amazing the little things they did. All part of the Amiga's personality? :-)

@prowler - A shame it doesn't stick around, more fun than the standard pointer ;-)

I just fired up my 1200 but it gives me the standard pointer. :(
The Blizzard's clock show 30/3/2013 2:01am.
Does the pink dragon show on all kickstarts?
I have a Commodore 1200 upgraded to 3.1 roms.

It mentions OS 3.9,  should appear with 3.1 ROM's. I have custom 3.9 ROM's but not that shouldn't make any difference.

3.1 ROM on my A500, clock is set to 3/30/2013 and all I get is the standard pointer. Aww! :'(  Was there some other trick or version required to get this?

Unless it's something to do with running OS 3.9?

Yeah it can only been seen if you have 3.9 and the BB1/BB2 update was loaded via SetPatch on startup.

You can see other neat easter eggs from Greg Donner's OS3.5/OS3.9 webpage here:

So it was a 3.9&BB easter egg afterall!
I saw that popping up while disabling Poseidon (and many other things maybe, like cold reset and Early Startup Menu selection after skipping the Poseidon stack -pressing a mouse button to disable Algor EPROM?!- ).
Nice to see all these hidden surprises!

But doesn't the early startup menu load before SetPatch is run? Guess it's been a lot of years since I've run 3.9, lol. ;-)

It does.
Kickstart 3.1 doesn't have that easter egg which means that the updated BootMenu module that resides in "AmigaOS ROM Update" file under Devs is responsible.
That module is loaded with SetPatch so before the first reset... there is no way you can see the easter egg :)

Unless it's burnt on custom 3.9 roms? :-)
