Hi just seen this
A600 4MB Fast Ram Memory Expansion board by kipper would i need extra chip ram as well or could i just use the 4mb fast ram,
Brian, as he is selling them as of Monday

You can use it without a chip memory expansion.

Depends what you want to do - I can't tell you what your memory needs are. The best A600 upgrades on the market right now are the A604 for Chip RAM and the ACA620 for a faster CPU + Fast RAM.

If you only need a little bit of Fast RAM, then the board you've described is fine.

Hi will this give me enough to play games without struggling or will i gain very little by just adding the fast ram ,because i cant afford both at the moment and caught between A604 chip ram and 4mb of fast ram lol ,best wishes Brian. ps it seems i have to push the card down over the cpu and when i turn the 600 back on hey presto configured lol

Yes. I own Kipper2K's 4MB Fast RAM expansion and it's just that. You push it onto the CPU and on the next boot your Amiga wakes up with more RAM. It's that easy.

If it's down to 4MB Fast RAM VS 1MB Chip + clock, I'd say Kipper2K's board is more value for the money. And it actually speeds up your A600 a bit by approximately 30%.
So I'd say go for it first, and then slowly save money for A604.

When I do business with him US dollars are fine. But you should really check with him, it's not polite for me to speak about this on his behalf I only praise him on message boards, I don't have anything to do with his bank accounts

Hi my friend just thought i would let you know i have bought kipper2 board ,and i have just ordered A604 from Amigakit will this meen my Amiga 600 will be off to a flying start ,or do i need some thing else? lol best wishes Brian.

Do you have a hard drive (CF card) ?
What is your screen of choice ? LCD TV ? Old Amiga monitor ?

Hi mrmoonlight,

I have a 1 Meg Chip and 4 Meg Fast RAM A600 with a Ver 3.1 ROM and Classic Workbench installed and it appears to run much faster than a standard A600.

Also using a PCMCIA Network Card with Miami and "Grapevine" IRC chat client have been in Amiga.Org chat a few times with 985 K Chip and 1.967 Meg Fast RAM free.

Please note that "Grapevine" is very hit and miss in logging into Amiga.Org chat, it appears that AmIRC is better suited instead of Miami.

Something I would love to see is extra 1MB chip and 4MB fast + 4MB SRAM as fast, would be nice to see some figures on speed impact when adding SRAM on that
