When I first decided to get an A500 to add to my growing collection, I said it would 'just' be for games, and that I wouldn't 'fix it up' or upgrade it. At all.

Of course, when it showed up with a leaky battery, I knew I at least had to replace that - and that was going to be all!

But, since the battery is on an expansion card with ram, I said, 'fine, fine - I'll upgrade the expansion card with more ram if I can, but that's it, no more!'

Of course, I soon realized that my KS on the new machine was a paltry 1.3.2, which would never do - since it would keep me from running some software. SO, I conceded that I would at least have to fix that - and there I would stop! Definitely! I ain't rich, after all!

BUT...with a new expansion card, 3.1, and a fresh new coin battery installed, what kind of an Amigan could I call myself if I did not also at least install some type of mass storage device, and maybe even that old external CD I have? I mean, really! Who could blame me?

Well sir (or ma'am!), those few little changes (not really upgrades, you understand!) would be ones that anyone would make! Not really too extravagant, or fancy; more like necessary, even just...

...until I got to looking at that flickering old monitor. Who could blame me for considering a scan-doubler, new video card, upgraded sound, accelerator with a math co-processor, internal hard drive (slimline), USB & network capability, Windows emulator, etc, etc...

Good effort! It's got me a thinking maybe i should fix my A500 up too. It hasn't worked in a while. But at the moment i can't afford to as i am as broke as an 18th century coal digger/miner thingy.

careful now PROCEED WITH CAUTION alot of us started off just like you with a simple mod on an A1000/ 500/ 2000 etc. and then another one, and another one, and so on. And then you feel guilty for spending all that money on Amiga gear so you sell a small bit of it AND THEN you feel so bad for selling it that you start up your mods one more time and then............
