Default What's it worth? (A2000HD setup)

I'm heading over to look at an Amiga 2000HD with a 1084S and a SuperGen to possibly buy. It looks really clean, but the owner doesn't know anything about it (like the battery condition, cards inside, etc). Based on the info I've given you, what would you think the setup is worth?

Thanks.

Chris

You mean this one? http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/sys/3147386503.html

Looks nice, basic A2000 with HD (verify if is there, because I only see 2 icons on desktop , probably RAM disk and floppy) might be worth that much, it says OBO, see if he can go down some more.

There are only Toaster systems which sold for +$200 - $300, but they usually go for more, because they probably have more RAM and an accelerator.

I sold mine A2000 for $125 on EBAY 6 mo ago.

Yes, that's it. I was thinking that $150 might be a little high unless there was something else under the hood. Other than the battery, and maybe mobo version, what would you look for? Thanks for a real response.

Looks to be in outstanding cosmetic condition, very little if any yellowing. It's also one of the later produced models, considering the label (much nicer and more durable, somewhat rare) and green LED - almost certainly a Rev 6 motherboard in there. Keyboard looks to be in excellent shape, too.

If there's no (or no serious) battery leakage, I wouldn't hesitate to give him what he's asking, especially if you pick it up local and don't have to worry about shipping costs or damage.

This is a A2000HD, so it should have A2091 controller, if is missing then it was removed. -$ for that.
See how much memory it has, 1MB is usually stock, if you see more that's good. If it has A2091 HD controller then there should be some RAM installed on it.
See if it has the megachip upgrade (2MB chip ram on Agnus), may need a flashlight to see under the floppy bracket. +$ for that
Check in notepad if the keys are working.
Check the floppy drive, load some programs.

Good luck

A stock Amiga 2000 computer in like new condition is worth around $200 to $300 without its original box. With original box, in good condition, tack on another $50 to $100. These are the prices that I have gotten on feebay. If the battery has leaked, then the Amiga 2000 is only worth about $50 to $80, providing that everything else is in great shape.

Be careful, and don't assume anything! There were even very late model 2000HDs that had those damned 2090A cards in them, with a whopping 42Mb drive. Most of the late 2000HDs did have 1Mb of chip RAM however.
You need to open it up and look, $150.00 is about all it's worth (maybe another $25 to $50 for the monitor (TOPS). But find out what's in it first!

Well, I was a little disappointed to find not much else inside, but it is up to date (relatively speaking) and definitely a clean system, so I went ahead and picked it up after getting a lower price.

The system has a 6.2 mobo with the ECS 1meg Agnus, a 2091 card with a 40 meg HD, and the genlock. It still has the barrel battery on it with just a little corrosion around the connections.

Basically the thing has been sitting inside the original boxes for years, hence the condition. Plus there's a lot of software, all in it's original boxes as well. The funniest thing here seems to be the one "game" in the collection: Pro Football Facts & Predictions by Intracorp. It lists a lot of pro teams, yet says nothing about NFL copyright, lol.

In the end, I'll probably end up reselling it in the future.

Yes, you just click on the completed auctions checkbox at the left side of the screen, but you may need to be signed in to see it.

You picked up a very nice system, worth at least $400 to $500. REMOVE THAT BATTERY NOW!
