Web Browser NetSurf 2.9 68k
« on: June 22, 2012, 07:25:10 PM »
After the release for AmigaOS 4 version 2.9 of the fast browser NetSurf now is also available for AmigaOS 3.x thanks to Artur Jarosik.

You can now save websites as PNG graphic files and new search engines were added.

This is SDL front end, meant to be used for debugging only.

I do have respect for those who do software for 68k amigas, but there is no point to port SDL apps to amiga, they are too slow. It doesn't have actual/real gui, it doesn't have menus and it freeses your amiga when downloading.

Much more smarte move would be port OS4 version to 68k amigas, Chris has done lots of work to make backporting to OS3.X easier.

Artur has put a lot of time into bringing NetSurf to OS3.x and is to be commended for it. Its the only browser for OS3.x tha lets you access modern websites.

Ive tried every version since the first release and wth every update they get better. However I can't get this latest version to work properly - the colours are all messed up nad I'm running it with a RTG card.

Good news everyone :)

The work on javascript support has just begun.

About colors, I didn't notice that it is broken as I use 32 bit.

I will try to fix in near future.

Sorry for any inconvinence.

Yes, it will be basic implementation first.

I use 1920x1080.

Remember that you can change res without having to edit options file

by resizing window and clicking on Reload button with Right Mouse Button.

Changed screen mode to 800 x 600; depth 32 bit. No effect on colors - still the same issue.

Will try in Win UAE also but need to rebuild my UAE setup.

Great news! Have you tried contacting Oli Wagner (Voyager) or Stefan from IB about how they implemented js?

AFAIK there will be NO p96 driver for MK2 as it doesnt have the same framebuffer to allow this like the ECS indivision does.

that is kind of what I feared, but Jens did write some where that is has 16 megabyte framebuffer.
