Can you point out some suggestions for fans and controllers?

Anyone else want to field this.
I opened my old Quicksilver and there are only two fans. One is on the power supply and the other apears to be a 120 mm case fan. As I've said before, my Quicksilver is very quiet, so I suspect his system has at least one defective fan. Also, if his 9600 video card isn't passively cooled, that my be making some noise.

Just bought 1.42 GHz iBook as substitute for above. BTW - I still have an old A2000 for the days I'm into pain. Maybe yours had a replacement before you got it. BTW, 9600 XT is not to loud...

@Iggy
1x PSU 1xcase and there should be a smaller one at the back (just were the CPU-module sits) but this may depend on CPU-speed. Mine had those 3 + 1 on each CPU (so 5 total). I replaced the PSU with a passive one (conversion from a standard ATX-PSU) but I would advise against it as it seems the PSU-fan is very important for the air-flow in the QS. I bought an cheap 3 channel fan-controller for 3.5" bay and mounted it beneath the CD-ROM (removing the 2nd drive cover may look ugly but allows to monito temps and RPMs). I than bought a bunch of 3-pin fans in the same sizes as the orginal ones (when it came to how many db/A and much much air/s I just had to take guesses). Channel 1 : main CPU (read the one used by MorphOS) Channel 2 : 2nd CPU + small rear fan Channel 3 : case Sensor 1 : in cooler right above main CPU Sensor 2 : in cooler as far away as possible from main CPU Sensor 3 : above CD-ROM I might add a PSU fan or move the whole thing to a (bigger) PC-case in order to maximize airflow as the case gets a bit hot for my taste.

Excellent point about the fan behind the CPU Kronos.
I'd forgotten about that one as I'd removed it on installation of an OWC processor card. I don't think that one would be easily replaced though. Your details on the others really useful.

The temperatures in mine really bother me. I like the case layout, but would sacrifice the sound level to increase cooling. Perhaps if I can modify my 1.42GHz dual processor to a single CPU it will run cooler.

I've heard a lot of people talk about heat issues in the MDD, but mine's really been perfectly fine. I did have to re-do the thermal paste on the CPUs, but once that was taken care of it hasn't been a problem since, even under load...

Well, that does give me some hope. Running slower CPUs appears to be cooler so maybe overclocking a single 1.33GHz Xserve processor to 1.67 GHz will remain cooler then two 1.42 GHz CPUs.
