Jack 3.1 is now available for immediate download for all Amiga-like operating systems. Non-AmigaOS 4 users should read the notes outlined below.
For the time-being Jack can only be downloaded from OS4Depot.net and contains separate installation scripts for all supported systems. SO WHAT'S NEW? * Comprehensive Download Manager in the App-Store * Added support for AROS, Classic and MorphOS computers into the Community Statistics panel and elsewhere * App-Store Donation Database: Download applications and then donate directly to the developer (SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!) * Improved general caching within the AppStore and increased archive name recognition database * Platform-indepency and removal of all (most) third-party tools and applications including Curl/Wget * From now on all URLs are called via the OpenURL suite * Watermarks fixed in single-image mode * All fonts are now anti-aliased * Many more numerous bug fixes and optimisations * For full list of changes and bug fixes, read the .readme or the documentation included AROS: (status: Release Candidate) * Installation Problem: Will extract to the current directory and not to the chosen destination drawer, AROS gurus must fix this for me. * Optical media is not picked up in the filemanager * Mouse pointers have been temporarily disabled Classic Amiga OS: (status: BETA/untested) * Completely untested, assuming it even loads some features maybe broken or missing. * Likely installation problem as AROS MorphOS: (status: BETA/Untested) * Completely untested, assuming it even loads some features maybe broken or missing. I do intend to get my hands on a MorphOS machine to bring up to the same level as enjoyed by AmigaOS4 users. IN ALL CASES please subscribe to the Jack Beta Mailing List, send all your bug reports, feedback, suggestions etc... especially non-AmigaOS4 users. jack_beta@freelists.org - ensure you write the word 'subscribe' (without quotes) in the subject of your email. Thank you, I hope you continue to enjoy Jack for... everyone! :-)

I downloaded and installed Jack 3.1 into my MorphOS system and when I double clicked the install to install Jack nothing happens. I am unable to install it into MorphOS system at all. Thanks in advance.
I think getting this program is SUPERB awesome because it will be like shopping online, it will have the latest up to date software news and downloads and purchases...it is like an online MorphOS store on my screen...but I cannot get it even installed. Thanks. |

Great, at last I know for sure it doesn't work under MorphOS out of the box. Supposed to be getting access to a MorphOS machine soon so I can do some real testing.
In the meantime feel free to join the mailing list mention at post #1 so I can begin sending out a debug version so I can at least determine how far it is actually getting.

Terrific program, thanks much!
AmigaClassicsRule: Should be some VNC type software available for MOS. If OS4 has it, I'd suspect MOS does as well. I use AmiVNC a ton on my SAM 440. |

djrikki ANY TIME you say YES I will setup the machine TODAY for you and give you access to the machine to develop directly into it. It will be on 24/7 non-stop and I will remove the keyboard and mouse from it so no one can do any changes into the machine while you are developing it...ones it is setup I will also remove it from the monitor so it will be like a cloud machine.
What do you say djrikki ? Do you agree? If you say yes I will set it today for you when I come back home from work and give you instructions to access it. |

Sure things sound like a great idea.
If I can VNC into it that would be unreal as I could get a lot of work done that way.

In the meantime I am just going to upload a debug version of the executable somewhere so you can replace it over the top.
<removed> Off-topic if anyone wants to see Sash performing in the UK in a couple of months time be sure to buy a ticket from the main site I own.

DONE! Today OFFICIALLY I will go back home download the program, set it up and send you the information to it..ones you have access to it and confirm there is no problem with it or you have no issue with it...it will be on 24/7 non-stop and you will have access to my email address if anything happens wrong or something and it is your virtual cloud system. I have always wanted to know what I can use this system for...it would BE THE MOST USEFUL machine if DEVELOPERS world WIDE who wanted to develop for MorphOS but do not have the hardware to develop for it...they can use my system.
But my intention since it is going to be used for public use by developers...only one developer at a time can access it. Ones Djrikki is done using the machine, and he takes his source code from the HD to his local HD and backup his work and delete his work from this machine it is open for the next developer. |

@djrikki
There's something to add to Jack right there. Make it so that every Jack user can optionally "donate" their computer time to a project. I have a mac with Morphos I never use. (It's in storage right now, in another state, won't be able to get to it for a few months). If Jack had an option to donate the machine's time to a project, or to a general "up for grabs" project pool I'd install Jack and leave the machine plugged in and forget about it. Of course for the pool idea you'd need some kind of screening to prevent anti-social people from abusing the opportunity. |

Like the MorphOS version, the OS3 included in the archive on OS4Depot is also untested at present. However, as it works under AROS and they share a lot in common it shouldn't be too much hard work to get it running. Clearly, you'll need lots of memory and CPU to draw upon.
