Default AmigaSYS, ClassicWB or plain standard 3.1?

I was seeing pictures of AmigaSYS and it looks really nice. Nicer than ClassicWB in my opinion.

My questions are:

Is AmigaSYS better than ClassicWB and why?

Do i have to format my System folder and re-install from scratch ?

Will it slow down my Amiga in any way?

Will it look and work nice on an A1200 '040 @ 28Mhz, 16Mb fast ram connected to a Commodore 1084S ?

I have a page with a lot of text and descriptions and screenshots covering both.

http://www.natami-news.de/html/support.html

(still in development :-) ).

To answer shortly... I use it emulated on a fast PC so I cannot compare it. Amikit has more features/preinstalled software and is really nice but also needs a lot of resources (I think 68060 and graphic card and more RAM recommended). AmigaSys is more lightwided and there also exists a AGA-Version, so without graphic-card I would prefer AmigaSys. For those who want the "3.1."-Look I would recommend BetterWB.

P.S. I overread that you want AmigaSys or BetterWB. "Better" is relative, BetterWB is lightwide and does not change anything at the user interface (just modernize and add programms and patches), AmigaSYS is offering a rich-gui with preinstalled software and a better and more attractive user-interface.

I have none of theses installed on "real" hardware so I cannot say much about this. Propably you need a clean install. They should both run on your system.

I found AmiKit a pain to install on a real Amiga and gave up. I do have some new instructions somewhere so I'm planning to give it another go.

ClassicWB for me was very straight forward, looks nice and responds fast even on lower end machines. I've used it on 68020, 68030 and 68040 machines as well as on my Minimig v1.1 (68000), Chameleon64 and FPGA Arcade.

Best of all, ClassicWB is already configured to use KillaGorilla's WHDLoad game & demo packs. Just copy the packs into the GAMES and then add the Kickstart ROMs into the folder.

he is interested in AmigaSys or BetterWB. AmigaSys could work on his A1200 (there is a AGA-Version). But it is a matter of taste if chosing AmigaSys or BetterWB there.

I'm sorry but he says:

I read ClassicWB there, not BetterWB.

You're the only one who has mentioned BetterWB.

sorry... I have worked too much with different distributions :-)

Is ClassicWB still supported? I have contact to the authors/maintainers of Amikit and BetterWB, but no contact to the maintainer of AmigaSys and ClassicWB (i sent emails but got no answer)

LOL. No problem. I was wondering if I was losing it too.

As far as I'm aware ClassicWB still gets updates. Here's a post from EAB where Bloodwych keeps a ClassicWB thread:
