Joe Tracy's Flyer Mastery Guide 2.0
« on: September 13, 2011, 06:13:24 AM »
This is a warning to anyone looking for a PDF copy of Joe Tracy's Flyer Mastery Guide.

There is a DVD being distributed by a person who claimed he was doing fellow VTFlyer owners a favor (for $50.oo us) by scanning, converting to a .pdf, along with a copy of the included CD-ROM, burnt to DVD. This archive is incomplete and will not print properly if taken to copy shop for output. There are a couple of pages out of order, at least one missing page, the backs of all the divider pages missing and all the appendix pages are missing the page numbers and the backs of the odd pages are missing. The manual is about 250 pages and would need a large 3ring binder. The .pdf is almost 1.5 gig in size. The included CD image is extractable and useable.

I had been impaitent (this was over a year ago) when shopping for this manual and jumped on what I thought sould have been a worthwhile investment. My bad. If you are looking to get this manual for information on the VideoToaster Flyer system, do yourself a favor, wait till it's available as the original release.

If anyone has this manual, I would like to obtain a .pdf of page one of the index if possible.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've got a legit v1 of the Mastery Guide - any idea what's new in v2?

Not having V1 I can't really say, however from the back page statements, it would appear that V2 is well expanded from suggestions and comments after V1 was released.  Also an appendix containing Flyer terms, a sample movie script.

I used to have two copies of that manual, but may have already sold my spare copy to another user.  I will look for it and if I find it will offer to sell it to you.  I will NOT scan any of the pages to send to anyone.

Thanks Dave, I apperciate the offer. The one time I make a questionalble purchase, I get burned. Like I said, "My bad". Think I can manage without one of the index pages for a while. Hard book to come by and when it does, I'm usually short on funds. I could have said that my dog ate the manual could someone please help me.... but figured it would be better to warn others of this unauthorized .pdf.

...and no Dave, I'm not a pirate. Been purchasing legit VT software throughout the years whenever I can afford too. Just bought Alpha Paint, RenderFX and Control Tower. Paid what I thought was a premium price for outdated/obsolete software for an outdated video editor. Looking for a few other hard to find programs to finish rounding out the VT/Flyer arsenal.
VT4.3
Av8r
CoPilot Audio
few others, can't recall off hand.

later

Have you thought about buying Millennium from DiscreetFX?  It has the latest versions and some extras, of most of those Video Toaster/Flyer programs you are interested in.

I was not labeling you as a pirate or anything like that.  I was just stating that I personally won't scan and send PDF's of any copyrighted books or magazines.  I am not going to pass judgment on anyone else wanting to do it.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to find RenderFX and its related programs - even tried compiling from the source code at OpenVideoToaster! Later I learned they were included in Millennium. Bought a copy of that and things got much simpler :)

...well shuck me funky ;)
Picked up Millennium about the same time I got the Joe Tracy Flyer manual. Figured that since my settup was suffering from minor errors and wonkyness, I'd troubleshoot/stablize before adding more software to the problem. Setting up the system has been a hit & miss series of events as I'll spent some time working on it, get frustrated, and then not touch it for a few weeks, then forget wtf was happening...
