I'm using a similar setup with an Acer H233H and a Commodore adapter. I've used 2000's, 4000D's and 4000T's.
Since I don't play games, I mainly use it for installation, diagnosing boot problems and for the few apps that don't quite work with RTG. I did try PAL once and while it worked, it had some vertical lines. I can't guarantee that it was the monitors fault or that it couldn't have been adjusted out though. I just never use PAL, so I didn't really care. I think HDMI is a pretty good indicator of whether it will work or not, but I doubt it's a guarantee. Additional info: I have no extra monitors in the drawer. It doesn't flicker, but it's pretty jagged in interlace. It's like a marginal flickerfixer, sort of low resolution as if it's trying to take the flicker out. Very usable for my case, probably not for everyone. Back when LCD monitors were very new (and very expensive), it was predicted one that could sync to the Amiga would de-interlace in 'hardware' - the pixels in each scan line are latched by the TFT transistors for that pixel until they are updated; sort of a 2-D flicker fixer. I spent years unsuccessfully trying to find an LCD monitor that would sync. Was that ever true?

@ bbond007: Nice review.
With all of those ports, at least the monitor could be shared with a PC and an Amiga at the same time and save some desk space. I do something similar with my my main desktop PC with it connected to the DVI input and my Minimig connected to the VGA.

Perhaps there exists some ideal monitor out there that will deinterlace as well... Quote:
In overscan prefs I was able to adjust the screen centering in multiscan mode so thar the top workbench status bar is not cut off. Last edited by bbond007; 08-22-2011 at 08:06 AM.. |

Ugh tried my BenQ E2400HD, no go .. Even though it has a HDMI/DVI/VGA setup. A couple of years old monitor .. Monitor only said out-of-range :-(
For some strange reason I cant find the Dell SR2320L anywhere in Norway but only the Dell "ST2320L" , specs and outward appearance seem exactly the same ... I wonder ...... ?!?! Its within my budget and I kinda could use an extra monitor, my main day to day monitor has developed a vertical stuck blue line :-P Last edited by Mr_DBUG; 08-22-2011 at 08:26 AM.. |

I assume you mean that you are running Amiga video into the SVIDEO or COMPOSITE ports and not the VGA or are you saying your DELL flicker-fixes on the 15PIN VGA?

The monitor I have is a Dell 2005 FPW. (its an older one but from research when I got it I think it was the same screen as apple used at the time)

With a monitor that actually syncs to Amiga frequencies, the type of adapter shouldn't matter, unless you're doing Genlock or Toaster work - those require some additional logic. Otherwise I believe it's just a change in physical shape from 23pin to 15pin.
