Your Blizzard 040 have a CPU socket ??

If yes : upgrade to 060 = 50 euros with a full 68060RC50 rev1 and quartz 66 (or 64) on socket + shipping back to you

If no : upgrade to 060 = 68 euros with a full 68060RC50 rev1 and quartz 66 (or 64) on socket + shipping back to you

Thats pretty cheap for what you have to do. I don't understand why you charge more for removing the unsocketed processor when you remove the socket anyway. Does it take more time or something?

If you see clearly on his blog article, you will notice that the socket didn't have all pins (3 rows of pins per side instead of 4) that an 060 requires.
That's why he had to desolder the socket and solder the new CPU on board.

Cosmos is the "Ambassador of Kwan" and his mods/hacks can make a grown man burst into tears lol

Is desoldering an 040 harder than desoldering the socket? I'm assuming you always desolder the sockets as the pictures you posted looked like you did. Are there some sockets you can just leave in place?

???

If this Blizz have a CPU socket, of course I won't desolder the socket !?!

Only adding one raw of pins in the middle...

@digiflip

If you want an useless socket, add 9 € !

There is a picture of a board with a socket, then the next picture is an overturned board then a board with solder and pins removed. Maybe the text explains but if it's not english then I'm unable to read it.

Google translate works pretty well on his blog.

I've been reading it for quite a while and that's the only way I can understand more than the pretty pictures
