Promises of release or the component being in beta testing doesn't quite do it.

I personally don't have any interest at AmigaOS anymore. There's nothing AmigaOS could offer that wouldn't be implemented in a better way elsewhere. The "designers" have taken it to the directions I don't want to follow (adding pointless interfaces, adding pointless alien APIs, breaking both source and binary compatibility, adding "shared objects" that are not shared etc).
As a paying customer of OS4, I am starting to feel the same way.

Yep because it will be OS5

Why do so many of you feel the need to reply with another dig/wismly remark towards Hyperion and OS4 team just simple asking for help? if your not intrested then their no need for a reply.

I wish I could help, but dont have the skills, the hardware, or really the time

I hope you find someone and get Classic OS4.1 and X1000 out soon!

You are repeating this broken record since 2005. Keep going on if that makes you happy.

Open source OS4. Let anyone and everyone tinker with it. It's way too late to make this a commercial success, that train left the station more than a decade ago. Use the Linux model and have Hyperion take the role that Canonical serves in the Linux community.

No, I'm saying that's what some of the readers will see when they read your comments - which is not doing much for the climate of discusssion.

Just like a lot of people (you included) noticed "CBM hero accuses MorphOS of being illegal" two weeks ago and it suddenly had a lot more weight than the 500 times it had been claimed by other people in the past.

Meh - according to the little birdies, all this red vs blue nonsense will soon be over.

Now for squishing AROS and MorphOS together and creating the Kwisatz Haderach of amiga operating systems, from 68k, PPC on up.

Not being a big fan of OS4, MorphOS or AROS as they're not really proper Amiga operating systems as they don't run on "REAL" Amigas (ie: in 68K and not PPC or whatever)...

I don't get why folk actually go on about them so much on an Amiga forum, at the end of the day none of them (unless AROS finally release a proper 68K version) are really going to be of any use to the majority of the last remaining Amiga users and their real hardware, often wonder why anyone actually bothers with continuing to develop them when they really haven't much to do with real Amiga hardware...

I've got OS4.0 and it requires a PPC board to run, that why I mentioned PPC in the post, how many folk using a desktop A1200 actually own a PPC board...

The point I was trying to make is (and I'm not putting all the work that folk have put into these OS's down) for you average Amiga user with say a desktop A500/600 or 1200 is just what use are these systems to them when they can't run them on a bog standard or 030/040/060 Amiga...

Well, MOS 1.x does certainly. Is there a version of 2 that runs on PowerUP boards?

I never were able to use Prepcard on my A2000 - and the HDToolbox won't work with my A1000 floppy disks...oh dear. :-)

Well djnick, the update has been out for more than a decade. It is called MorphOS. It will solve your problems and do everything you asks for in that thread, and a lot more!

MorphOS is Amiga done right!

Who is ssolie and what happened to the Friedens and Steffen Haeuser? I haven't really been keeping up with things OS4-related so I'm probably hopelessly out of date. Did they retire or something?
