Compact flash problem with A600
« on: March 15, 2011, 04:49:35 AM »
I just upgraded my A600 with a Kickstart 3.1 Rom so I decided to install the classic workbench 68K .  I was using the Green alien edition before.  I got it installed but when i went to use my compact flash card the icon doesn't show up.

what I got.

compactflash.device in Devs
fat95 in L
CF0 in Devs:DOSdrivers

I am a noob when it comes to setting up software on the Amiga so i might have something wrong.  It actually works after I open a CLI and type CF0:  so I'm stumped about what is wrong.

AFAIK you need to mount the drive in the mountlist.

Double click on the file CF0: in DEVS:?
Type "Mount CF0:" on the command line to mount it?

Open CF0 in a text editor and add

Activate = 1

at the end.

Did you change the icon of CF0? By default Activate=1 is among the tooltypes of the icon.

Have you tried cleaning up your desktop? Select Clean Up from the Window menu when the Workbench window/screen is selected, or press Right Amiga + . (the full stop key) and it should clean things up. Perhaps when you insert your card, the icon appears off screen.

Thomas your the man.  I typed memacs in the shell  ( it came up ED v2 ) and opened up cf0 and the activate command was missing so I added it at the end and rebooted.  It shows up now along with the other icons.  Thank you very much.

A new experience .  I unplugged the CF adapter and the icon disappeared (as expected) but when I reinsert the adapter  the screen blanks for a second but then comes back up with the icon displayed.  It seems it only happens the first time.  If I pull it out and reinsert it the screen doesn't blank.  Is this some 3.1 quirk as it never happened to me under 2.1
