Commodore: A Company on the Edge - near release

It's been a long time in coming, but Brian Bagnall, author of the book, "On the Edge: the Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore", has confirmed that his new book, "Commodore: A Company on the Edge", is at the printer right now and will be shipped soon.  In fact, at Amazon.com there is page that says that Variant Press will release the book on December 15.  Just in time for Christmas!

Think of the new book as a second edition of On the Edge.  Here is what Brian had to say, "It was a long road and a lot of work to get the second edition into shape. There was so much new information from the 15 additional interviews and tons of pictures that I had to split the book into two parts. A Company on the Edge deals with the period up until Tramiel leaves and the second part (slated for 2012) will tell the post-Tramiel years with the Amiga. Each book deals with about a 10 year period, and a lot of players change in 1984 so it worked out to be a pretty good split."

Why on the Amazon's page it is said that it's the 2nd edition?

It does seem to be a different book with a different title..  Maybe since the bulk of it came from the first book?

That sounds like a pretty good description of the differences.

I suppose that this book was already available in 2009 and this time it is something like reedition. Correct me if I am wrong.

It's been discussed here a few times, apparently the 2nd Edition will not be published.

This is a shame as the original copies are hard to get, and sometimes go for silly money on Amazon.  I've been trying to get a copy for a while now.

EDIT:  A quick check on Amazon show there are '2 new from $170.62 11 used from $107.00'. LOL.

It was available for preorder for a release in February 2010, which never happened. According to Robert's post, it looks like it's back on track for release... unless that's very old info.

The information came directly from Brian Bagnall in an e-mail message to me yesterday and has also been confirmed by Ian Matthews of http://www.commodore.ca   Brian gave me permission to spread the news.  If you have further questions, I can get you in contact with Brian.

Robert, could you see if Brian would be interested in coming onto ART after the new book is out? I tried to get a hold of Brian sometime ago directly, but never got a reply.
