Dickinson, Hermans at Amiwest Show 2010 video
« on: November 01, 2010, 01:26:39 AM »
First Amiwest 2010 video of mine is up on the Net -- Trevor Dickinson and Ben Hermans open the show on Saturday, October 23, and speak about the Amiga X1000 and OS 4.1.  To see the video, go to

Appreciate the upload!

edit: Watched first half:
Trevor seems like a nice guy. Seemed to emphasize again indirectly that his primary business ventures aren't in computers and that this is a vanity project for him. Certainly has a lot of faith in it.
Not a ton of ideas for what to do with the XMOS chips yet, so we'll see I guess.

Second part with Ben:
A bit unprepared as he was pretty much just handed the microphone :)
Some talk of the work required to update the OS to the point where something like Firefox was actually possible.
Also mentions that he feels its important that you can buy a complete amiga system, rather than just the board itself (unlike the SAM systems I am guessing)

and before the usual stuff start: Can we have just one thread about something other than the fact the X1000 will cost a lot of money ?

It would have been nice to watch had I been able to actually hear anything over all the people talking throughout the entire speech.  Seems like nobody even paid the guy the slightest bit of attention, they were too busy talking amongs themselves.  Bit of a wasted journey...

The people gibbering was rather annoying, though it does get a bit better

Very interesting stuff, I wish Mr Dickinson all the best with this project and have a keen eye on owning an X1000 if it lives up to all that he says about it.

Kinda strange and annoying though that the folk in the audience, who obviously went to some expense and time to travel to the event seemed more interested in babbling amongst themselves rather than paying the speaker a bit of courtesy and politely listing to his speech.
