Default It's alive!!

Hi All,

I think this must be my first thread on this forum or at least my first in absolutely ages!!

After reading some many interesting posts on here and thoroughly getting the bug again I decided to dig my A600 out and after 13 years (1997 was its last run..) it boots up and runs like I put it away yesterday I think I am really lucky i never put it in my family loft or I suspect it would be long dead by now unfortunately..! I played Chaos Engine last night for an hour and it seems one happy little computer! I am so happy

I have been doing a lot of research over the past two weeks and the Amiga scene looks really healthy which I am really please to see - well done everyone Hats off to people like Individual Computers who are still manufacturing new Amiga parts - on my shopping list from them so far is the 1mb trap door upgrade and Flicker Fixer card, I also really hope the rumors are true and they are developing a A630 board for this Christmas - I would certainly buy one to replace the Viper 630 I sold years ago I also love the idea of using a solid state memory card as a hard disk which should help both energy consumption and speed no end! (PSU being the Amiga weak point from memory)

I was like a 13 year old boy again at Christmas last night!! lol (I'm 31 now..)

What a great forum as well!

Adrian

Say what you will about Commodore but they built some durable computers. I have an A1200 that I stored in a barn in 1992. In 2007, I decided to dig it out of the hay and see if it still worked. It fired right up and damn if it didn't have the correct date still stored in the clock. It was off by a few hours but I find it amazing that after 15 years it carried the correct date!

To return to your 'miggy with the awesome Chaos Engine (IMHO the best game ever), is a joyous thing indeed.

ferrellsl - I agree, really robust durable pieces of kit - my A600 must be 17 years old now!!

Tripitaka - One of my all time favourite Amiga games!

Just going to try the other one now - Lemmings!!
