So X1000 was there, any pics of it running?
« on: June 19, 2010, 02:34:58 PM »
I just saw this at AWN.

Looks like the X1000 is there and set up, but I don't see any pics of it running. Anyone?
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I think on the second picture, Trevor and Ben are starting it up. At least they are looking at something on the screen.

Ugh those boards are unnecessarily big, cases are honkin big. It's funny cause there looks to be large swaths of space between few components on the X 1000. Maybe this is cheaper somehow? And why are the PCI buses so far apart.? Something is just, weird about what's being manufactured here.

What I'm waiting to hear is the retail price and what CPU it's using.  I think those two (and release date) are the only things missing on the A1X1K.

@TheGoose,

Yeah, know what you mean - surely it'd take electrons light-years just to travel from one side of that MB to another? :-)

If that is an X1000, then why, oh why, not make it mini or micro-ATX and make a case to suit?

Bigger is not better...

Perhaps they're trying to justify the hefty $$$ price-tag by giving the buyers a lot more metal and glass than is actually needed?

Mike.

If you look carefully, it is only an illusion that the USB ports are blocked.  They are farther back than the edge of the fan.

The PCI slots appear to use the standard spacing.  See the short connectors between the long ones.

Just got back from VCF yes it was running and I have pics and video, just need to work out bluetooth. They also had the sam 460 running and AmigaOne A-eon branded keyboards with boing balls instead of windows keys. They sold out really fast :P The place was packed full of people including press from magazines. The only downer was that Trevor Dick had no mic and he had lost his voice so nobody could here anything. Other then that it was fantastic.
