Timberwolf Alpha 1 released
« on: June 09, 2010, 06:04:56 PM »
http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=network/browser/timberwolf_install.lha

News item via  tfrieden from amigans.net

We're happy to announce the availability of  the first Alpha release of Timberwolf, the AmigaOS port of the popular  Firefox browser.

Timberwolf needs AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 installed.  Please read the documentation for information about usage and  limitations.

This is an alpha release, meaning it will have a lot  of problems still, and be slower than it should be. We are releasing it  as a small "Thank you" to all those that have donated in the past, to  show that development is still going on.

Timberwolf is available  on os4depot.net . For further information and  feedback, check the Timberwolf support forum on amigans.net.

Congrats! Thanx for all the hard work on Project Timberwolf! Some said this day would never come but it is here.

Finally Firefox for Amiga OS!

For those that complain about Amiga.org not looking good on Amiga browers here is a solution for you. If your version of Amiga OS is too old to run Timberwolf maybe it's finally time to upgrade.

I look forward to the final version of Timberworf. I ran this Alpha version just now and it's better than what I expected.

It would be cool if somebody who has OS4.1 could make a video showing Timberwolf in action and post it on Youtube - I would be interested in seeing what it looks like, how it performs, etc.

Timberwolf on micro A1 video on YouTube.

There was a little grim at the beginning, which was not appearing if did not run AmigaAMP, but I needed soundtrack.
The sound coming from the Amiga is not disturbed by the browser.

Will you guys please port/buy/beg/borrow/steal a desktop vidcap tool.  I swear this is the nth Amiga video I have seen that is of the "point the SureShot at the monitor with one hand and work with the other" variety and it's just painful to watch.  1 second in, bam, nope, closed.

So...please :)
Back away from the EU-SSR!

Come on mate that's a bit rude considering it was just a quick video uploaded on day of release for people who don't have OS4 machines (99.999999% of the world!) AND the poster's other videos are not mobile phone aimed at screen type videos at all.

In general I agree with what you say but if people just want to see it running and it's been out less than a day I think there are nicer ways to ask for a direct output video to be uploaded.

Nice to see it in action anyway, thanks Doc :)

hrmmmm Classic systems only support 4.0, correct?  I am excluded with MorphOS (darn it,) and would not be able to partake even with my PPC 4000 with OS4.0.  Double darn!

Great work, though, guys, seriously.  Love seeing new Amiga developments.

Great work but I'm suprised they didn't wait to the X1000 'launch' to release it.
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

Nice Ports on AmiNet!
