He could never get a bidding war going because the reserve was too high. I've always thought that you are better off selling this type of item as a Buy-It-Now if you're going to have a sky-high reserve.

That was one thing with ReDrum's auctions of desirable items. He almost always started them at .99 with no reserve and he almost always did real well with the amount they sold for. (As a added bonus the listing fee was cheaper because of the low starting price)

Sold one of my two TekMagic 060's w/128mb RAM installed almost two years ago for $385 + shipping. It is a great card, one of the best for the A2000 since the DKB WildFire A2000 accelerators are so rare.

Hello,
The board is worth $600 at least. Softhut sells theirs for $489 plus $120 for compatible RAM = $609. And they don't even have it all tested the way they should. This is my 2nd tekmagic board, so I have pretty good experience with this.
All RAM has been fully tested on PC before being deployed to A2000's Tekmagic board.
There's a custom rom and hard disk included and for those interested, you can buy the Amiga 2000 motherboard with it as well. So you get it as complete unit. I tested this board with Picasso graphics card and Ariadne 2.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190370212523

And since you were the highest bidder you should be aware that this board won't be sold for just a mere $375. The $375 is not enough for TekMagic 68060 in any timeline. (The 68040 by GVP is worth at least $200, the 68030 is worth $125-150 in my opinion. The tekmagic 060 is in a different ball park than those boards and its a different thing alltogether in terms of performance). Complaining about the price won't make me lower the price, because I know what this is worth. I will wait for the right buyer who appreciates what is available in this deal. But heck, I did complain about price of Amiga One and other amiga machines in the past when they were released into the market (A2000 cost $1500-2000 when released) so I completely understand your concerns. Amiga is not for everyone, only the "dedicated amiga freaks".

It's a 68060, a pentium 1 equivalent and therefore worth the same : $0. People please, stop burning money. Spend it on the homeless if you can't stand to have it.

@Hell Labs: As for an '060 being equal to a pentium 1, I dunno... I think I remember the '060 being just a bit faster than a P1.... (of course, what clock speeds are we comparing?) and if it's one of the first P1's, didn't they have major bugs? (Q: How many Computer Engineers does it take to screw in a light bulb? A: 1.99959087342 , but that's close enough for most people .... )

But, I agree with your statement about ' spend it on the homeless ' . In my city, less than 2 blocks from where I live, there are maybe 100 homeless people 'living' under a bridge....

I just hope I get to the point where I can't stand to have money.....

Just ask freescale for an engineering sample of 68060. They'll probably send you several, for free. Of course, you need something to plug them into.

But the auction isn't for a 68060, it's for a card that happens to have a 68060 on it, which is worth a darn sight more.

Amiga owners must surely be aware by now that just because an Amiga component is similar spec to a PC component that's 5 million times more common, doesn't mean the Amiga component is worth the same?

Hell Labs isn't an Amiga owner, he's just sad because he can't afford one and so is of the opinion they should be given away.

It's kind of funny, in one of his posts you've got "Amigas suck and aren't worth anything" and in another "I hope there are still 4000T's available when I can afford one."

Children, so mercurial!

Actually, I have an amiga 500, and an efika. Just face up to the fact that this is old, old, old tech that's only useful today as a games console (and copying data from old to new systems), and therefore only worth the same as a games console. I payed £10 for my snes. A 68060 on a pcb isn't worth anything to anyone other than nutters. if you need the performance that much you'd pay $$$, just use winuae and have something many times faster on a low end netbook.

The amiga market is a joke.

I have a P1 on a card, perhaps that's worth a lot of money too?

The value of anything is equal to what the market will bear.
Disagreeing with the market valuation doesn't make the market wrong.
That being said the market is a fickle mistress and can turn on you at the drop of a hat.

As a comparison I picked up a pentium III 733mhz for $10 three years ago. That was a 'classic' hardware purchase.

In fairness, the 060 cards have always been expensive. My 68040 card was dirt cheap in comparison.
