Hey guys!
I have never owned an Amiga before but happened across a box of amiga stuff which I saved from being tossed out. I grew up on the Atari computers since that is what my parents bought me in the 80's. I got a Amiga 500, Ext. Floppy, Supra Turbo 28 (some sort of accelerator?), Data Flyer 500 with 240MB SCSI with memory addon card, 1084 Monitor ,and the Amiga has 1MB ram. I identified all this stuff using online pictures at the Amiga hardware site (pretty handy site). I had to take everything apart and clean it to make it work but suprisingly everything works! It's fun to play with and I will say its much better than any Atari computer I had when I was a kid. The sound is unbelievable from this thing. Atari's POKEY was good but not anything like the A500 sound. Anyway....my question is: The Data Flyer 500 has a memory expansion card with 2MB installed. What kind of Memory is that? Can I still find that memory these days? Also inside the A500 is some sort of aftermarket board plugged in which I have no idea what it does. I will try to post pictures when I get out of work. |

I'd take a guess that an a500 setup like that may have a MegaChip installed, that could be your unidentified board...
Info here: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/megachip |

Here is the unknown board. It looks like a ROM of some sort. I am not familiar enough with Amiga's to know.
And a close up: |

That is a Kickstart ROM switcher. It allows you to switch between two different OS ROMs. Like 1.3 to a 2.0. (Kinda like TOS on the Atari ST)
While the Amiga is powered on, You press and hold the CTRL Amiga Amiga keys for several seconds then release, and it should switch to the other ROM.

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showha...gi?HARDID=1000 There's the info on the Dataflyer. They take SIMM sticks.

BTW: no Megachip in your A500. But hardly you'll miss it to play games.
BTW: excellent setup! Why I never found one of those?
