I've had a mint condition Commodore 128 desktop that I've been using as a monitor stand for the last couple of years sitting on my desk. Its the highly collectable metal desktop version with the built in 5 1/4 floppy & power supply. Somewhere in one of my many moves I've managed to lose the keyboard for it!!. I've looked everywhere for one online but I think I'm going to give up. Should I put this thing on ebay or does anyone have any leads to a keyboard for this thing.
I would like to get Contiki running on it with the new C64 ethernet cardtridge that is coming back in production. :-D |

Wow!
The 128D is the first computer that brought me into the world of computers. I still wish I had it. The first thing that went out on it was the keyboard itself! :-( I dont know if its even replaceable. If you have a PC or an Amiga with decent speed, then why not emulate the C64 with the game you want. Sure the real feeling is tooken away, but its worth playing.

I'll check, but I do believe there is a way to hack a PC's keyboard so it will work.

Never actually seen a C128D-CR in real life, probably because they were only ever sold in the US. I always wondered what the metal case looked like. I've seen a few C128D's on Ebay Australia (none at the moment) that you could have salvaged some parts from. BTW, why would you want to use Contiki? I guess I would only want to see it running out of curiosity.

@adz,
I think Contiki is a really cool project. I've only been able to use it with the vice C64 emulator so far. I would really like to get my C128 online!!!. I'm just trying to decide if I should just give up on finding a keyboard for this machine and buy a second hand regular C128 off ebay. :-? Oh, the metal case 128D looks just like theA1000 but with a 5 1/4 floppy drive. |

Maybe you should look under the desktop case? There should be a slot for it... :roll:
BTW I still have and use a C128 (not D) - great piece of equipment :-D.

I have got spare keyboards, too, but as the originator of the thread said, they're for a highly collectible machine and come at a price (or trade =). |

My friend had a C 128D but I've never seen it. So... you say that Cost Reduced version had no keyboard slot underneath? You're probably right, I won't make a bet on this topic. Bummer! That's one of this machines' pros. You put your keyboard into that slot, pull out a handle and off you go with your desktop-computer-briefcase.

Thing is if you do sell it the keyboard will turn up a while after. I would pack it away for a while while you keep looking on ebay . :-) :-)
