Thanks to everyone!
![]() So classic games will only take advantage of not needing to access the disk drive so often, and the main cause is the fast RAM. Ok, and 3D games will be much better. So,did the programmers use routines for 3D graphics that were cpu dependants even if better machines were not released yet? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Wings (g.e.) is a very old game. Thanks again! ![]() Juanma |

Ooops, sorry, I think I made a mistake. This post was going to be in the "Games on a better..." thread.
Sorry again

Wings used the polygon plotting functions of the Amiga graphics chipsets: pattern filled with no textures. The only part about it that's cpu-intensive is the calculations of the vertices of the polygons.
If it works on a system with a graphics card then the polygon-plotting functions may be patched and work faster but the calculations may be slower than a program with support for true 3d acceleration. |

I am not sure what you mean by this. Irrespective of the graphics hardware used, the CPU still has to do the vertex calculations, so there wouldn't be any difference in the calculation speed. Whilst a 3D chipset can speed up polygon rasterization by several orders of magnitude, no existing 3D cards used with AmigaOS have any kind of geometry acceleration. Lastly, no libraries exist for this even if they did.

framiga:
nightlong is a 2d game , and a very good one. nice anims , nice gameplay and horrible puzzles (aint logic) , but a damn nice game anyway.and sometimes u need to get some air because the gfx is so shiny and cool ![]() anyway the game runs fine from 030 and up but seriously i recomend a 060 + ppc if you want to play in Fullscreen (videos etc in fullscreen) cheers
