Will the X-Surf's IDE controller work with CompactFlash cards?

I tried attaching a CompactFlash reader to mine and I can't seem to get anything to show up.

I tried inserting a card while the machine was on (since CF cards are hot-swappable) and it froze, but apart from that it just doesn't see anything. Has anyone had better luck?

Doobrey made some patches for the XSurf, Buddha and Idefix to work with CF cards.
 
He only needs some people to test them.

Even though CF cards are, IDE bus is not. Don't do it.
