IOSPIRIT GmbH ends its Amiga business on the 1st of April 2007.
In the future, IOSPIRIT GmbH will be focusing solely on its Mac® products. In order to better serve the needs of that market and to be able to process incoming orders faster and more efficiently, a reimplementation of the shop system is currently being worked on. The reasons for the decision to no longer operate in the Amiga market are as follows: * we want to fully commit to developing Mac® products in the future. * the big additional overhead that would be necessary to integrate (permanent) support for download and package versions of Amiga software into the new concept and the drawbacks that would come with this for the majority of our customers - which today are Mac® users. * the decreasing demand for Amiga products and the the situation of the Amiga market in general. IOSPIRIT's own Amiga titles will no longer be available beyond April, 1st, 2007 - except of course for remaining stock at dealers. The future distribution as well as development and support of IBrowse will be handled directly by the IBrowse development team. You can find their website at http://www.ibrowse-dev.net/. Many thanks go to * all of our customers and users for being loyal for so many years, which has made the development of our Amiga titles possible in the first place. * all developer and scene buddies for the many interesting, reflective, funny, educational, helpful and amicable moments, anecdotes and experiences. * all those, who have always been there to help with mental and moral support and an independant, second opinion. We wish all of you all the best for the future and would be happy to see you again over in the Mac® market. If you are interested in what we are currently working on, you can find our Mac® products at http://www.iospirit.com/. Sincerly, Felix Schwarz |

Usually the _announcement_ comes in april fools day
![]() Sad.. I really liked IOSPIRIT and buying FXPaint2 and IBrowse from them worked really nicely. Does it mean that fx#? and VHI Studio won't be available anymore? They were great piece of software... |

I am sorry to see IOSpirit go. I like IBrowse for AmigaOS but in these times when the A1 has disappeared and the classic is now 22 yrs old, its time to move on.
The Mac system is a good platform to move on to, Gordon Harwood did a similar move back in the 90s when CBM went under... |

This comes as no surprise, really, as IOSpirit announced they were ending development of their Amiga stuff quite a while ago. I can understand that it's not financially viable to maintain support for Amiga products in the sales system restructuring.
However, even though development stopped long ago, it's always sad to see products disappear from the market. Many of our software staples (Miami, AmiTCP, etc) haven't been updated in ages, nor have they been available to buy. It's sad to see IOSpirit joining that list of Unavailable Excellent Products - fxScan is the best scanning software I have ever used on any platform. If you haven't bought it and if there's even a remote chance you might want to get into scanning on your Amiga, pick it up now. I hope that IOSpirit might be open to the possibility of releasing their Amiga stuff as freeware, open source, or licensing someone else to carry on sales. I wish them the best with their Mac software. |

dear mister Felix Schwarz
I am sorry to hear you are leaving the Amiga market. Thanks for all the great years of support. Please consider donating your source code to open source. There are plenty of developers that can help and the Amiga community would miss your products. Whatever you do please make sure they will be available for future Amiga users. Open source is the safest way to guarantee that they are not lost. |

Now that Hyperion is in partnership with ACube which produces Samantha hardware, I think we will see lots of new things.
I hope this partnership will lead to a big number of users to came to Amiga, users who need resellers... And so I hope IOSpirit will reconsider their demise of Amiga Market... |

Sad to hear that :-(
Btw, is there any chance of getting the VHI standard (and the code related to it) opensource (LGPL)? it may have flaws but it could be the standard for video input as AHI is for audio... |
