Kevin Murphy mentions Amiga
« on: October 30, 2003, 06:04:44 PM »
In an interview on Applelinks, Kevin Murphy of 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' mentions the use of an Amiga on the show. The interviewer was asking about the sorts of computers he used. The mention is in Murphy's second response.

The fact that an Amiga was used isn't new news (their use of a Video Toaster is mentioned in an episode of the show), but it's neat that he still remembers it.

During one of the episodes, he says "I got the Amiga working!" over some guy messing with an old computer.

If I recall properly, The bots are on thier own computers.
Tom Servo was typing arcane, overly complicated DOS commands on his PC while Crow T. Robot  was re-booting his MAC yet again. Then they derisively snort "Amiga! now theres a machine for ya." Quite funny and telling!

That would be episode 911, Devil Fish. Still broadcast occasionally in the United States.
There's an older one where they use the VideoToaster to create some new roles for Tor Johnson. The Unearthly, If I remember correctly. That one's available commercially.

I love MST3K!

I don't think it's ever been aired in the UK, the series that is.  I saw a feature-length episode or film which was funny, but that's about it.

@mikeymike

It did run in the UK on Sci*fi, but I don't think for very long. You might be able to find out more at the MST3K Infosite.
