Interesting. Note that the 800MHz 750FX has been reported to run quite stable at 933 with the VGA type cooler used in the A1G3-XE (voids warranty etc, and I don't even have one myself to test it on).

But it doesn't work at 1GHz (with that cooler), and it's producing a lot more heat than the estimated numbers IBM originally gave out for the 1GHz version.
I've been waiting for this GX for some time now (I read the same comment in a pdf on IBM last year as some others seems to have done). If "the reg" is right about 1MB L2 cache, we have a winner :-)

The 750FX is already better at multiprocessing than the previous versions, I think. But might still be room for improvements.

I think two of these would compare VERY favourably against the x86. And if they're so cool and efficient, why not use 3? ;-)

Default since no mortal opposes Apple...

Apple can do anything to dominate the computer industry forever since it is GOD. Why does no one anyone protest Apple's monopoly of the G6?

As I was reading the article, it just got worse and worse. If, but's and maybes. Verifying rumor one by refering to rumor two and a preliminary spec.

A G3 running >1GHz using 0.10 micron integration and featuring the altivec..? I mean, that's a "G5" ;-) Sorry lads, it's probably just another far fetched rumor.

In any case you won't be using anything new anytime soon in your Peggy/A1 anyway.

Does this mean that all I have to do would be to remove the PPC from my current CybervisionPPC and put in the 750GX--and I have a fast Amiga?

Are you really mad, or just faking it?

What kind of monopoly can Apple possibly have over a non-existant G6 CPU? I mean, Motorola hasn't even made a desktop version of the G5 yet. God damn hippie.

I don't know, but even if you could, I know you'd have to change the clock crystals, or all you'd have is a 750GX running at about 200MHz...
