Webb.it: showing Amiga One and Amiga OS 4 beta (68k)
« on: May 09, 2003, 04:31:10 PM »
Virtual Works, Soft 3 and Bitplane magazine are demoing Amiga One and Amiga OS 4 beta (68k) at the Webb.it show in Padua (Italy)

An Amiga One XE G3 800Mhz with Debian Linux PPC and an Amiga 4000 with Os 4.0 beta are present and running at the booth of Virtual Works, Soft 3 and Bitplane. Also an ipaq with Amiga Anywhere is present and the last issue of Bitplane magazine is available. Attenders seems very interested about the Amiga One and the OS 4. Tomorrow Elena Novaretti will show her own Pegasos running MorphOS. We will release more info about the show progress (it will last until sunday) tomorrow.

AmigaOS4 for 68k?
I love and respect people which care! And not those with
a heart made of stone.

Seems the "booting-into-Workbench"-stories were either a bit
over-optimistic, or the result is still to buggy to be considered.

While it may be problematic to show a buggy OS(*) it is
(IMO) even worse to show only 68k-modules (again).

(*) As I understand this, they plan to really just show it,
instead of the "touch-and-try"-sessions that we have seen from
those whose names I shall not utter  :-P over the last 6 months.

Selecting stable apps and avoiding known bugs should be
dead-easy, aslong as the core OS (kernel,intuition...)
isn't the prob.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Hmmm, could be, but in that case I would strongly
suggest to edit the news-item as it would be quite
misleading.

@Kronos

I havnt even heard the stories of booting into WB at al. If that is true it is good news!

That said I doubt too Hyperion would demo OS4 if it is buggy. They probably saw the crap thrown at Thendic 1 year ago when they were demoing the MOS ).9 or whatever version that was. Someone claimed to see a system hang and it spread on the internet like wild fire :-o

mordock: that is the worst picture I have ever seen.  Why post a shot of the BACK of a MONITOR?  Come on now, put it *in front* so we can see something.
