Default New mp3/shoutcast player for Amiga/MOS - AmiNetRadio!

AmiNetRadio (ANR for short) plays Shoutcast streams. These are streamed mp3 data from various radio stations: go to shoutcast.com to find out more. Shoutcast offers literally thousands of radio stations catering to every musical taste, all in delicious mp3.

For years, we felt there was a huge need for ANR. The Amiga already had some players that could play Shoutcast streams, but had the tendency to hang and crash a lot, or not work at all, and were really bad at playing faster streams... and you still had to surf the website for URLs. So we made our own player.

That player is ANR - AmiNetRadio. And we think it rocks!

And now, ANR also plays disk-based mp3 streams! Replace your dull, crash-prone mp3 player with ANR today.

It features:

- Load and playing of shoutcast streams with no locking, hanging or crashing!
- An attractive, powerful and fully skinnable GUI with lots of nice effects!
- Powerful and flexible shoutcast search tool. No need to waste time browsing!
- Optional streaming mp3 to disk - save those favourite streams for later!
- Attractive external and in-built scopes!
- The ability to use AMPlifier, AmigaAMP and HippoPlayer scopes!
- OpenURL support - visit the shoutcast stream's radio website in a click!
- Paste URLs as IP addresses or DNS names.
- Plays mp3 files from disk as well as internet streams
- Fast and efficient - no 2MB exes or waiting ages for it to load!
- It works on an Amiga! No x86 system needed!
- System friendly and usable on MorphOS, probably also OS4 and emulators!

AmiNetRadio's website is at aminetradio.amigazeux.net. Try it. You'll never go back.

Really good news! Nice to see a new MP3 player for the Amiga, especially one that supports shoutcast streams!! Shoutcast is very important IMO.

First impressions are this is a great little player.
I have managed to have it crash on me,but i don't know if that's my system.
AmigaAmp falls over quite regular,if i do too much other stuff.

Looks like a really nice program! Too bad it has no support for the MP3 hardware decoders like on melody, delphina or mas-player. Support would be easy. But until then, I'm stuck to piping the Streamer output through a tiny MelodyPlay command tool.

Good news!
If I had a wish... Is there any solution for a shoutcast server for Amiga? I would even be happy I could stream simpler formats than MP3...

Yes yes!!

First impressions are good here. Amplifier done the job well but with this connecting & searchin Shoutcast for stations saves loads of time.

Love the bluring GUI, a touch of class there which makes a change from the usual "grey" GUIs we see.

Finally, I know its early days but, when we see the new AmiDock it would be nice to see an AmiNetRadio Docky so that it could sit in the AmiDock bar (Just to keep our screens tidy really ;-))

Anyway, as I said, very nice, I'll be following this one closely :-)

Roll on Koollive!

Not as easy as you think. None of the #AmigaZeux team have such hardware to test. Sorry, we did look into it but it didn't prove to be possible at the moment. Maybe in future versions.

I'm of the opinion that someone should compile an "emulated" mpega.library that remaps CPU decoding routines to mpeg decoder hardware or its software (ie. MHI). (Edit: in other words, a wrapper). That way support wouldn't needed to be added piecemeal to every mpeg app, but would run with 100% compatibility on everything that uses mpega.lib.

Shame that there is no WOS version.
My BlizzPPC/040@25 is not enough for HQ mp3s

ANR doesn't decode mpegs itself. Get the WOS version of mpega.lib! It's been on Aminet for almost 4 years now!

If you get interruptions, try setting a bigger buffer. But you will not be able to play faster streams than your connection allows, no matter what you do. This isn't ANR's fault. Read the guide for details.

Hoya!

@Felix

YES! #AmigaZeux is a TALENTED team of untamed Amiga thinkers! ;-)

They brought the world:

-ANR (well, we have been testing it for quite a long time now, hehe... ;-) ).

-AmiTradeCenter: an ftp client using MUI.

-dynAMIte: a BomBerman clone... BUT playable ONLINE, up to 8 (eight) players! :-D

So, stop wasting your time and go to

amigazeux.net

And be enlightened! ;-)

For some other people here: RTFM! ;-D
KennyR has done a pretty neat and humourous guide for ANR, so do him a favour and read it! ;-)

Be funky
