My AmigaPPC dream computer
« on: September 30, 2003, 04:29:26 PM »

Yes, this would be the best Amiga ever. Why not? Its in a tower, it got PCI slots, USB 2.0, PPC G4 at 800MHz, Zorro 5 expansion slots, and 256mb RAM, running AmigaOS4.

This Amiga should have great expansion possibilities, like Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000 got today. It would also contain Kickstart 4.0 and 2 highspeed video-slots so that Amiga could be back on the track as the worlds best multimedia and video-editing computer.

Amiga Inc. or anyone else should create something thats got Amiga feeling in it again. I dont really think that AmigaONE can be a satisfashion for everyone. How about a custom-laptop-Amiga? :)

Michal, www.amigaworld.org

Hi Michal

It's not like what you just described are that diffrent from the A1 anyway.

It will lack those highspeed video slots you mentioned, or rather it will just have AGP and PCI instead (+ Firewire for the LITE model).

Remember that these slots are more than appropriate for all available Amiga software, and that custom built Amiga Video hardware probably are a thing of the past:(

I'd like someone to paint the moon green, because I don't really like that cold bluish light it's reflecting as it is today. I also think somebody should build a miniature of the Chinese wall around my house, but it must be made out of chocolate.

There won't be any more Amigas. Get over it already. There's some nice hardware that's suitable for a PPC AmigaOS, like this, this or this.

Maybe it\\\'s still possible to save AmigaOS  :rtfm:......

Not really sure what the Zorro 5 slots are for... or the video slots, since any new machine wouldn't have a custom GFX chipset...

But I live the original C= A4KT case, that was great, the Escom A4KT case was crapola.

In any case, if you want the 'ultimate amiga', why not go the whole hog and have dual G5s?

Hi.

But the Amiga 4000 is very old. It is slow in buses and memory and stuff like that. It was good for it´s time, but everything is old and slow now.

But the case is very nice! :-) The best looking Amiga case in my opinion!

Think about the Amiga One Lite in this case! What an overkill! :-)

I agree.  They could have charged 100 quid for the case, three times the going price for an average tower case, and people would have gone for it.  I would too I think, unless I was particularly cash-strapped at the time.
