Elbox Computer is proud to introduce the first USB 2.0 host controller for the Amiga computers. The Spider USB 2.0 PCI card provides a simple and affordable way to add five Hi-Speed USB ports to Mediator-equipped Amigas.

The Spider USB 2.0 Hi-Speed PCI controller is backward-compatible, which means it works also with older USB 1.1 peripherals.

BUT! Is there any USB 2 devices which we can use on this card ??

It's no good spending the extra $$$ on USB 2 card if you can't enjoy the extra speed. Otherwise they should have coded for a 1.1 card - saves the users a few $$ which they can spend on better things like *cough*amigaone*cough*.

you can use USB 1.1 devices on the card too
2.0 is mostly used for scanners so far
(I think I saw some external HD's using 2.0 too, but these have almost all migrated to firewire)

There are loads of USB2 Scanners, Hard drives, CD-RW and even the new Zip750 Drive.

I see more (affordable) Firewire devices around now but I think USB2 will give it a good challenge.

I know that! The point I was making is that since there is no drivers for 2.0 devices, this is basically an extra expensive USB 1.1 card ATM.

I hope they do get some drivers, cause USB 2.0 is faaasssstttt :-)

Don't forget the 480 Mbps(60mb/sec) is under laboratory conditions only. In reality we're getting around 25mb/sec.
The only 2.0 devices of which I know are the ones we're developing for research.

I'm glad to see Amiga manufacturers are getting over the death of zorro and making saleable PCI cards. But does anyone know the difference between the Spider and an average PC market PCI USB2 card?
